Check out Jo's front page for the news.

Okay so i know this has quite some time to come out, but you never know how much the net influences how movies will end up so ive started this for opinions ideas etc.

I am excited but i am almost 100% positive that the simpsons movie will disapoint.

A show in Australia Pizza, the funniest Australian made show (dont let anyone beleive you otherwise) made a movie and well, it was hugely disapointing the first time round. IT got better but its still nothing compared to the sereis.

I feel this will happen to the simpsons. It's that greatest show EVER, and easily the funniest, now how can all the greatest jokes and bits in the show be beaten in around 2 hours. It simply cant. I know people may know this already but when this gets closer to release people will be expecting the greatest simpsons thing ever. I could be wrong but i doubt it.

The south park movie turned out great so you never know....

Now for your input...

Australia? Remeber the episode when they go to Australia? One of the best ever. Way better than the one where they go to Canada.

I was about to make a post about this. I went to a comic book convention in my country and one of the actors who dub The Simpsons in spanish was invited. He said that a Simpsons movie is being made and they're waiting to Matt Groening to finish it to start dubbing it.

Never really got into the Simpson's , and i think it's way past it's prime , but i would at least rent it . For some reason half way decent cartoons that entertain in a half hour format lose something when stretched to an hour and a half , that's what hurt B and B do america and the South Park film . In snippets they can be great , but they can overstay their welcome .

I thought Beavis and Butthead Do America and South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut were the best things to happen to those shows. If anything, the movies were actually too good since each series suffered afterwards. That's why I hope this Simpsons movie will be the end of the show, there's nothing left for them to do.

I'd like to see one happen. They have continued on for what? 15 Seasons on TV?..... I wouldnt mind standing in line for THE MOVIE! :D 20 Minutes per episode just seems to short at times. :(

South Park movie was one of the greatest satires ever put on film with genuinely inventive music. One of the best movies if the best movie s of the year. If The Simpsons movie can top that I say good for them but it will be hard

Appearantly they are shooting for a summer or December release in 2006.

I'm seeing it. The show is getting more and more inconsistent each year, but I'm curious how a movie would turn out.

I've been a Simpsons fan so many years now, and I've been awaiting a film for many years. It can't come soon enough.

i say the show should end with a cliff hanger in summer 2006 as the last episode, with the film in december wrapping up the entire series.

either way i hope the movie is the last new simpsons "episode" as it would be a fitting way to end it.
cant wait either way

Yah a Simpsons movie will never live up to full expectations. It will still be good nonetheless.

I Actually think the Simpsons are just as good as the older ones, well may not as good but they do get alot of good laughs. Its made for the modern audience, it may not be much like the simpsons of ten years ago (WOW THAT LONG!!!) but its aimed more for its fans and a modern audience.

I'm just curious to see where the first D'oh will be placed. lol.

im surprised its taken this long but ill see it when it comes out, i love the simpsons, and as long as itll go for the funny angle (homer and bart), not centering on Marge or Lisa ill probably love it

As long as once this film gets out there, the series finally and mercifully ends. The show lost its lustre after 2000, with Homer being stupid stupid, and not funny stupid, which I loved.

If the movie is the end of The Simpsons (even though ims ure there will be a few specials to hop along) i think i might cry a little. Even if its finishes just with the series. I mean i know it sounds weird but the Simpsons came out a year after i was born and has been my best friend on the tv ever since!

So, it's Mike Reiss and all the other veteran Simpsons writers writing the movie? If it is, then great!

Also, have they begun writing the movie now? If they take 3 years to write it, then it better be genius.

This should have been made years ago when it was in its prime. Now it will be very mediocre sadly. Their jokes got too much of current events and they stopped being part comedy/part family show. Conan better be involved in some way though.

And so the prophecy shall be fulfilled
"...and God told unto Heaven let there be light. And so it was so. And then God said let there be a never ending cartoon series that kicked so much ass that a movie had to come forth, spreading beyond all lands and shores. And so it was so.":)

This is gonna be awesome. I am a Simpsons nerd, and a movie would be godly in my eyes I just hope they don't fuck it up, but since they're getting alot of the old writers back to write the movie then i expect it to be good. All in all very cool news.

I loooove The Simpsons.....when it was on about 8-10 years ago. Sadly, I just can't get into the recent shows, which I barely laugh at and are filled with too much inside jokes for me to get. The best shows ended around 95-96, but it will be interesting to see a movie, but only when (or if) the series has finally been put to rest.

i think its time for matt to take the nipple out of his mouth

when simpson first came on tv it was one of the greatest shows ever made, not only were the shows funny but they had heart,

now its just who can they get as a voice and how bad can homer hurt himself, i find it hard to watch the new shows sometime because they have total forogten what a great thing they once had.

idont have any expectations for the movie, im goina go watch my season 3 dvd

It's strange really. I wonder why they never made a film earlier, when it was at it's prime. I suppose it's major popularity came about the time "Bart-man" was released.
It was a phenomenon because most American culture doesn't really make it that big in this country, but the show, at that time, spread far and wide.

I wonder whether people will really care about a Simpsons film to be honest. I think it lost a lot years back and I've never been into it since...

The Itchy and Scratchy movie did well even though Bart couldn't see it until he was a judge on the Supreme Court.

Remember?

I still watch the show & agree w/ those that think it has gone downhill. I will watch the show til the end & will be seeing the movie opening night. I wish the writers for the movie (although I think I read that the voice actors' contracts hold them to THREE movies, maybe I'm just crazy though) would be the ones from seasons 4 & 5, the show's peak! It's already been mentioned but Conan O'Brien was one of those writers. I definitely read that he just finished recording his share of the commentary for the season 4 DVD set to come out this year. Can't wait for that.

My boyfriend is a total Simpson's Geek - so I will probably get dragged to it. I watch the show with him on occaison and usually laugh out loud at some of it. I will probably like it.

I loved the South Park Movie - that was great
