Some of you might know about the experimental project that DJ Danger Mouse undertook recently. He put the vocals from Jay-Z's The Black Album over completely new beats using The Beatles The White Album as the sole source material. Now, before you all get your panties in a wad over your precious Beatles you should maybe give it a listen before you judge. This is a really inventive concept, and came out really good. Jay-Z is a very talented MC, and this is the best stuff I've ever heard that has him involved. It has a lot more rock elements than most hip-hop/rap. Half the time it is hard tell that the beats being used are even from The White Album, but there are some instances where it is very evident. Here is a link to where you can download some songs from it if you're interested in hearing it:

I'm going to be buying this album. Dangermouse is an excellent producer and this album sounds interesting.

Shame about all the other attempts out there at the moment.

I am completly against it, Jay Z has no right being mixed with the Beatles. ITs stupid, and actually quite gross.

Give me one good reason why that would be true, and try one besides the old "greatest band of all time" title that the Beatles apparently deserve.

This is a really good album.

The link you have here is 404 though.

Here is a current, workable link:

My fav tracks so far have been "Encore" and "99 Problems"

The remix with "Number 9" and "Interlude" is faaaarrrr better than what appears on the Beatles White Album.

"99 Problems" is like the best frigging song I've heard all year.

Here's that link again.

I thought about this for a second, and then it occured to me that THE GREY ALBUM is far less gross that LET IT BE NAKED, or pretty much anything that has had the Beatles name on it for the past 20 years.

I'm listening to this as we speak. I can't believe how good it sounds. It's amazign that the album pretty much set up an online revolt against EMI records.

Totally. The lawmakers need to realize how outdated the current copyright laws are.

To me, actually taking a few seconds from one album, and manipulating it into something different, for a new album is no different than one person coming up with a guitar riff, and someone else using that same riff in another format.

In other words, what DJ Danger Mouse did with the Beatles and Jay-Z is no different than what the Beatles did with Chet Atkins and The Isley Brothers.
