View Full Version : Brad Pitt's "Troy" To Be Rated R
Speaking of fighting...remember how Warner said they wanted PG-13? Well, there is no way in hell this movie is PG-13, with all of the spurting blood, staffs through the head, stabbings, hangings, and all around bloody fighting, not to mention the pubic revelations of both Pitt and Orlando Bloom and the sweet, sweet, amazingly scrumptious, yummy yummy yummy tits and ass of Diane Jruger....hot damn! That girl looks good naked! Anyway, there will be some major trimming if they don't expect the R rating.

Sweet, I was dreading the idea of another PG-13 rated war movie.

There was no way, if they attempted to adapt the source material, that it would get a PG-13.

If they stick with an R rating, then I'm glad they have the balls to make a big budget Roman epic and not make it PG-13. Pearl Harbor-izing it just isn't the way to go
I doubt their penises will make it into the movie. I can't imagine that. Maybe it just means their pubes ;).

I think they will, someone said the studio wanted to make the movie as realistic as possible.

I would really doubt seeing Bloom and Pitt's dicks in this movie. I mean, they're making such a fuss over Ewan McGregor's little man in Young Adam that I don't see how one movie could be allowed and one movie not.

Exactly. I can't imagine them allowing one, let alone both to be shown in this movie.

I'm gonna love this movie.
And not because of the dicks. Well, not only. ;)

Gladiator was rated R. Why should this be any different?

LOL! But still, I doubt it will have any dicks ;). But for your sake, hopefully I'm wrong :p.

I wouldn't be surprised if Troy was able to get by with two dicks, as opposed to Young Adam, which had one. Big, powerful studios with clout like Warner Bros. have an easier time getting the preferred rating than a smaller studio without much clout. I mean, look at Spielberg's career

it's not really been confirmed that it's going to be rated R...that review just says that there's no way in hell that the current cut of the movie could be rated PG-13. He also said that the movie is around 3 hours long right now, and they plan to cut around 40 minutes or so, so it could very easily end up being PG-13, especially since that is what Warner has said they're aiming for. I personally hope it's rated R so that they have the freedom to put whatever violence, etc is necessary for the story, but I don't think it's a sure thing right now.

Guys get real - this is a Knowles report we're talking about here for starters.
Either way - if the WB wants PG-13 then thats what they're gonna make sure they get - certainly not R thats for sure.
If that means all creative integrity of the film is sacrificed and this supposed epic becomes about 15 minutes long then so be it.
An R rating would half its profits at least - don;t kid yaself, that won;t be the theatrical cut.

There gonna need some really cool dialogue if it's PG13. Im really looking forward to some kick ass violently violent action.

I say it's OBVIOUS this movie needs an R rating to get high grosses. Number one, a PG-13 war movie drives people away -- because, like us, they figure it's for kids, it's all sweety-cozy, and that's not what war movies are about. Number two, this is such a huge thing, with epic battles, and cutting down epic battles and mass killings like this to make it PG-13 would pretty much mean cutting everything out of the action scenes, and even studio execs know an epic needs action scenes to score money.
Besides, GLADIATOR was rated R and it grossed its 450 million worldwide (and got 5 Oscars). Same goes for THE MATRIX (400 million, 4 Oscars), THE LAST SAMURAI (must be getting near the 200 million mark worldwide, I think, and a few Oscar nominations), THE ENGLISH PATIENT (200 million), BRAVEHEART (202 million)...
Epic movies almost imply an R-rating to be successful. Comes with the scale. Take out everything that could get you an R (violence, battles, ruthlessness, some sexuality) and all you get is a Disney animated flick.
I don't think an R rating would hurt this movie at all, in fact, it would probably help it. Like James said, a PG-13 rating scares a lot of people away. If they are trying to get a PG-13 rating, I highly think that they should re-consider.

Tits and gore? DAMN!
Too bad I don't want to see the movie because of the so-called "Dude Fest".

its not like I wanna say duh, but Im not suprised, making an epic war film, regardless of the romantic inclinations (sp??) still needs to be R, think of the massacre once the horse is let in......

Hang on, an R rating here in Oz means no one under the age of 18 is allowed to see the film legally - what does it mean in the states?
Cause we may be getting our ratings mixed.

that's the same with us, in Canada. R is no one under 18 allowed period here. But in the U.S., rated R means that no one under 18 can go in unless accompanied by a person 18 or over.
So it should be rated less in Oz just like in Canada most likely. Most movies rated R in the U.S. are rated 14A here (no one under 14 can go in unless accompanied by an adult. anyone 14 or older can go in by themselves) which is good because it means most people over 14 here can go and see almost all movies without their parents.
It used to be just AA here actually which was the same as 14A, but now they've split it up into 14A and 18A (our 18A being the equivalent of the U.S.'s R rating) which sorta sucks but oh well.

Or if you are 17 you may see it on your own. Or, take friends with you, if they are 17 as well. Any other way, you must have an adult (18+) with you at all times during a R-Rated film. Not just have your parents/adult give the permission, they must also go with you.
It is interesting, two more years until I can go to an R-rated movie with out an adult, I never have snuck into a film to date probably never will. We'll see.

In Brazil they will probably release it as being 14A, since City of God, for example, was 14A, so was Gladiator and The Last Samurai.
That is.. in theory. Evebody knows that in "real life" everything goes in another way. 12years old kids watching 16A movies.
But who cares, as long as they fucki*g keep the blood and realism of the battles, 2 thumbs up =P

I doubt this "reviewer" even saw the film. I can guarantee you that both Brad Pitt AND Orlando Bloom don't show their dicks in a movie without the press being all over it. Two of the most adored male actors around just so happen to bare it all in the SAME movie, and nothing's been said up until this point? I'm just saying. Doesn't sound legit to me.
