I had to think for a minute on what was my favorite, I was conflicted between a couple. And that's why I didn't post it yet, but I would have to say,
"Saving Private Ryan"

This is tough.My first instance would be Private Ryan.But Patton was one of the greatest and so was the longest Day

Bridge to river kwai wasn't really on the battlefield as much, so I don't think of it when I think of war movies. But that's probably my top, too.

Interesting picks GIA, but I haven't seen none of them. But I agree that there are many excelent foreing films about the war.
I think the bests WW II movie (taht I have seen) are:
My first is Schindler's List (I don't know why nobody have mentioned)
Saving Private Ryan and Enemy at the Gates (Both have excelente first 20 minutes).
The Thin Red Line.
