I am a hardcore metal head, but I am also a fan of theise 2 musical genres. For some reason, many people I know are embarresed to admit that they enjoy country and I have no idea why. Southern Rock is also great. I like some bluegrass, but not a lot. Here are some of the artists in both genres I like:

Country:

Johnny Cash (duh!)
Hank Williams Sr.
Hank Williams Jr.
Hank Williams III
David Allen Coe
Merle Haggard
Willie Nelson
Walyon Jennings
Toby Keith
George Jones
Garth Brooks
Kid Rock (his new albulm has a lot of country on it)

Southern Rock:

Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Allman Brothers Band
The Marshel Tucker Band
Molly Hatchet
Nashville Pussy
Dixie Witch
Kid Rock (his new albulm also has a lot of southern rock on it)

Bluegrass:

Bill Monroe
Flatt and Skruggs
Ricky Scaggs

If anyone else likes any on theise genres, post your favorite artists in this thread.

Awesome picks! I love all those bands. Molly Hatchet actually played a small bar in the area some years ago, I wish I would have went.:( This was quite a while ago though, I think I may have been underage at the time. A couple of friends had a blast though. They said it was so loud their ears were ringing for days. The lead singer was swilling a bottle of Jack Daniels during the set I remember them saying.:D

Country is actually pretty big around here too, I'm not into though. Johnny Cash rules though, I listen to him somtimes.

As far as Southern rock goes, Lynyrd Skynyrd takes the cake. But the Allman Brothers Band and Marshall Tucker band are very good, too. As for bluegrass, I love Flat and Scruggs.

Check out My Morning Jacket. An Outstanding southern band.

But the southern rock king in my heart is Mr. Neil Young.

Waylon Jennings
Hank Williams, Sr.
Hank Snow
Johnny Horton
Marty Robbins

Actually, to be completely honest, country music makes me nauscous. I don't what it is about that genre, but I get physically ill when I listen to it.
