I plan on making two polls on the subject of "Best Director... be sure to check both of them out, and give your vote.

The First is for Directors who are often considered 'the best' by critics and film historians alike.

The Second is a list of Directors who have achieved some level of admiration within certain internet circles, or cult followings.

Vote away...

This is difficult. I've been on a Hitchcock binge, as of late, but I'm going with Scorsese.

From this list I would say Steven Spielberg...though I probably should have gone with Other and voted my favorite Stanley Kubrick...but with Spielberg's overall body of work(compared to Kubrick's minimal # of films) its fair to put S.S. on top.

Hitchcock with William Wyler just behind.

Out of that list, I'd pick Steven Spielberg. I not real familiar with the works of alot of those other directors.

Why did you leave off Stanley Kubrick? I voted Other, for Stan the Man.

Scorsese is a CLOSE second.

This is tough, but I'm going with Steven Spielberg, for all the different types of movies he's made. From blockbusters to Oscar worthy pictures, etc. Behind Steven, I'd say Martin Scorcese and Akira Kurosawa. I'd like to also Include Mr Hitchcock, but I've only seen one of his films, Vertigo.

I always have to support the man Marty...
He's directed most of my favorite films.
A lot of the directors on that list are classics and are no doubt great, but my favorite director of all time is Marty Scorsese, so that's why he gets my vote.

I voted other for.....Kevin Smith? What the fuck was I thinking?

I was thinking that I don't like the mostly serious movies that the people on the list made, I like my dick and fart joke movies.
