View Full Version : Most beautiful...

I'm on my break from work at the moment and I was just reading the depressing music thread on here and I thought I might brighten the mood a tad by asking you all what's the most beautiful song or album you know?
You know what I'm saying, the song that makes you smiles and reminisce about that time under the maple tree with Debbie Rogers or laying in bed on a Sunday morning knowing you have all day and nothing to do... hmmm
Yeah so what song is beautiful to you?
I have to say "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John. There's something about this song that makes it so beautiful. It is a beautifully written song and beautifully performed by good old Reg. Seriously, I could be near suicidal and be saved by listening to this. Beautiful.
Jeff Buckley's classic "Grace". This whole album from start to finish is a work of true art and brilliance. I have only just picked up his two live albums (Mystery White Boy and Live A L'Olympia) and they reak of beauty... every song tinged with tragedy...
And Finally -
"Kid A" by you know who (Radiohead). There's no doubt that it's an acuired taste and it does take time to grow on people, but I see this as a work of art, beauty and intelligent brilliance. Each song on their own may not be so impressive but if you view it as a whole album you can do nothing but appreciate what you're listening to.
All bootaful!
Pale Blue Eyes-The Velvet Underground
Wild World-Cat Stevens
Oh Yoko!-John Lennon
Let Down-Radiohead

It's just that it's a cover of a cover and copies John cales cover note for note, voice tone for voice tone. John Cale took that song and created an original outstanding cover version of it. Then that schmuck copies John cales cover stealing everything that made it intimate and cool.
Arrrgh.
but I do like your other choices :)
