Lay off Britney and Christina already people!!

Recently, singer Stacie Orrico was quoted to say Britney and Christina are "bad influences on young girls". First of all, she needs to lay off them and worry about staying afloat inher own career. Second of all, I'm so sick of some of the public trashing these girls for their sexual images. Let's start with Britney. I admit I used to be an anti-Britney myself, but lately I've kind of grown to like her. Her new album "In The Zone", is her best, and most mature sounding yet. There's been a bit of controversy surrounding the "raciness" of the album, especially a song about female masturbation (A topic artists like The Divinyls, Cyndi Lauper, and Tweet have tackled before). But Britney has really finally come into her womanhood, something she has struggled to do throughout her whole career. Admittedly, she was a bit of a hypocrite about the whole virginity thing earlier, the main reason because Britney was probably too naive to realize a comment like that would continue to haunt her.And truth be told, she never really lost her innocence, since a big chunk of her career was based on her sex appeal (i.e. "Baby One More Time" video) from the beginning. Then there was Christina. Christina's image is albeit more shocking to Britney's wide eyed party girl, but there are still similarities. Christina also made a rapid evolution to her assless chaps (from the flirtatious "Come On Over" clip to the vampy "Lady Marmalade"). Ok, so she's posing naked on several magazine covers and walking out in the streets in what she probably wears to bed, but hello, she is doing to that for shock value to intentionally raise eyebrows. You really have to laugh when artists purposely try to shock and those dumb prudes fall for it all the time, only while giving them more fame and exposure. Let's not forget the golden pipes the girl has. The girls are doing their thing and their still young, so buy a life and lay off.

Here's the deal.

In all honesty Britney and Christina would not bombard our TV sets and Magazine covers all of the time if it were not for the press. The media is so out of hands these days......I guarantee that 90% of the "stories" concerning the two pop singers are false....

Anywho:

Britney Spears: I used to have the biggest crush on her up until her quickie marriage which really turned me off of her.
She is a great entertainer, beautiful to look at, has one of the best pop songs of the last 10 years (Baby One More Time), and deep down does seem to have some decent values. HOWEVER in every interview I see, she seems forced, stiff, like she is being told to act a certain way. ,,,I dont really think Britney knows who she is....

Christina Aguilera: She is a great singer but I wish she wouldn't scream so much. She seems to like to cause tension and be the center of attention. She wears to much makeup which makes her look like a drag queen. But she doesn seem to know who she is unlike Britney....

Britney and Christina must realize that great portion of the bashing stems from their celebrity, which we the public honestly do create when we buy their products. The media , whom we consume, "report" these "stories" on these celebs because they know that we will eat it up. Plus Brit and Christina are millionaires, we helped make them and when they do things that we the customer doesnt like, bashing is inevitable.

WELL, I do like both ladies for their music. I am moooore Brit than Xxtina. I am not too keen on the "ghetto" bling bling she has displayed but heck maybe shes trying to steer herself away from Ms. Spears.

I like them both. They always seem to make interesting stories to read in the tabloids.

Britney is gorgeous but her personality (or what I've seen of it) really grates on me. She has also made some of the best pop songs ever.

Christina has one of the best voices out there and is an edgier version of Britney. Christina needs to lay off the orange tan it makes her look awful.

I would've undertsanded if she said it in an interview for opinion's sake but E! put her comment on the little News Flash Scroll they do at the bottom of the Tv screen, so I just thought she was on some self righteous soap box, but maybe I took it wrong.

Okay, Entertainment news things ALWAYS overexaggerate. The fact that it was on the ticker at the bottom of the screen makes it obvious they had a slow news day or some shit.

I think "Toxic" is one of the damn catchiest songs I've heard in about five years. And this is coming from somebody who thinks Britney doesn't have a very good voice, as well as wonders if it's even her singing half the time. But I agree that people need to lay off her, and Christina Aguilera too. My opinion is that if you like the song, who really cares? Everybody is entitled to like something without being criticized for it. Music these days is used far too much as some sort of elitist thing - if you don't like a certain style/artist, then you're just not "in".

I appreciate the JoBlo message boards for letting a person be able to say that they like a song by Britney Spears without twenty people telling them that they're a loser. And say what you will about Britney Spears, her song "Toxic" is just brilliant. I even bought her album because of it.

I have nothing against either of them. I'd even consider myself a fan of both. I really really liked Britney's "In the Zone" album, and Christina's "Stripped". I love Christina as a person, she's great. Britney just seems a little false to me.
