I don't know if 'trend' is the correct word, more like 'sub-genre'.

I can't watch another "Job" movie, really. "Ocean's Eleven", "The Italian Job", "Confidence"...ugh...I feel like seen one, seen all...

What sub-genre do you dislike now?

sorry but

Urban/Hip Hop influenced movies like You Got Served!, Honey, Drumline, 2 Fast 2 Furious. etc. etc.

I just can't stand them...

Teen comedies.
Romantic comedies. I feel nothing original can be done with either genre anymore

Basically any film that's aimed at the MTV crowd.... I think that covers a lot, but there's a lot of garbage

I can't even imagine someone like Sergio Leone trying to make movies now :/

Mismatched buddy cop action comedy movies are going to hell (with the exception of Starsky and Hutch). Double so if one of the leads is black, and the other is white. I can't remember a good use of the race genre since the Lethal Weapon series.

The annoying bombast of Bruckheimer/Bay films and their even worse imitators.

POTC was a ton fun, but mainly for Johnny Depp.

I hate pg 13 horror flicks, hate them with a passion, or any pg 13 flicks, most anyway. PG 13 is a red flag to me, i always avoid them, except a few, jersey girl might be an exception...

Remakes. I'm tired of everything being remade. It's like Hollywood doesn't have creativity anymore.
Also, sequels. I like some, but tired of most of them.

Downunder Horror Movies ... when will the locals get it through their heads that we suck at this genre..... if you want to check out the general level of real bad aussie horror go watch Cut ...

Triumph of the human spirit movies.

Im beyond sick of these, come Oscar season they attack theatres like swarms of angry locusts, ready to prey on the flesh of lesser known movies!

I think thats why i still like ROCKY. He didnt win, he just "went the distance".

I have a feeling that if it were made today Rocky would have made an asounding comeback and won the fight in the first movie.

Argh...you know what I REALLY hate? Worse than teen comedies, MTV anything...

Those fuckin TRAILERS where the film look all serious and stuff (often involving the Queen or some religious figure) and then the music tones down and they zoom in on a comedic couple saying some stupid unfunny one-liner or yawning or looking bored.

I can't count the times this has been done...and I HATE IT!!

Agreed, with the exception of JOHNNIE DANGEROUSLY.

As for genre's I hate, I'm sick of superhero movies. SUPERMAN premiered in 1978 as a novel approach to the man of steel. We've been innundated with them ever since. From BATMAN sequels to SPIDERMAN (UGH!) to THE HULK (Worst CGI ever). None of them have been spectacular for over fifteen years. X-Men was good, but not perfect.

I am also sick of any films aimed at teens or the MTV set. ALL of them, be it Disney films for teens or the serious teen dramas. How many ways can we see the same shit over several decades?!

American remakes of stunningly good Japanese films first with the ring, (ring 2 coming soon), The Eye, Dark Water, even though the remake of the ring was good its just hollywood saying 'subtitles er er i know lets do it the exact same way but in english' .. Still at least were safe from US remakes of Battle Royale and Audition so far...

this isn't really a genre but......

Preach, Brother. If it's one thing I missed about 70's trailers, it's that they show you alot, but you still don't know what the hell it's about

I guess, aside from that...I'm fucking sick of sequels...

You know what rules about trailers from the 70's? The fact that they say the name of the movie on like 4 or 5 different occasions throughout the trailer. I loved that.

"This winter see John Carpenter's Escape from New York."
"There has never been a better escape than the one from John Carpenter's Escape from New York."
"Come see Kurt Russell rescue the president in John Carpenter's Escape from New York." and finally,
"You can escape from the theater, but you will never escape from: John Carpenter's Escape from New York."

Great stuff. It's not verbadum, but it gets the point across.

I'm fucking sick of lesbian sex scenes.

Why? Cause I'm sick of hearing what and who these sheltered and deprived schmoes wank-off to. They go crazy whenever a lesbian scene "comes" about . God damn, this is a film board. Wheres the integrity, people??? It strikes me sad, that the Hollywood execs make films to appeal to you.

Ah come on, I bet you're "watching" Mulholland Dr. or Girls Go Wild Together Vol. 12 now as we speak.

Don't hide it from us, and you owe me back the latter video as well. ;)

Two words:

I can see why they'd prefer DV, considering if you plan to make a movie, one thing you learn quickly is that film costs a lot more to get and process. DV's quicker, easier to use, not as expensive, and you can see the results faster than film. See Once Upon a Time in Mexico on DVD to get a good idea of how it can be
