Freddy vs Jason had some racist dialogue. Also Cherry Falls' killer killed only virgins, that's so racist ;).

How about Blackula, Blackenstien and Dr. Black and Mr. Hyde? Of course they're silly blaxplotation comedies, but they're the only blaxplotation films I can think of that still have a horror theme (well, they're based on classic horror stories).

A racist movie ? Damn I really don't know, maybe all these films that deal with cannibalism I mean the indians are not well depicted I think.

i think NOTLD is a little racist...

i mean *SPOILERS*, Ben (a black man) is the only one who survives the zombie attacks (all the other characters who are coincidentally white die), and then he's shot by a bunch of white 'tards at the end of the film.

it's sort of saying "go ahead black people, try to survive in a world full of whites, only to fail miserably in the end."

stupid, sucky hidden messages

I don't agree with you. I think what Romero wanted to show, was the awful truth. Black people were not wanted back then, and there are still people who hate black persons. I think that's what he wanted to show. The guy gets to survive the zombies, just to get shot by white men. I don't see this movie as racist, I see a hidden message, but a good one, not a bad one. That's just my opinion. I saw an interview with Romero a few weeks ago and he said something like this. It's up to you though, I respect your opinion, I'm not saying that I'm right or anything. Just that we have two different point of view :).

I dont buy it.

I would have rather gone quick like Ben then what happend to all the white characters. They ALL were eaten alive for christs sake! Screaming and kicking for thier lives! Fuck, if anything, the whites all got portrayed as either jackasses or hicks. Ben was the only one with two cents about him in that whole movie.

If any racist message got taken away from it, i dont see how it would be against blacks.

On a side note, Ben kicked ass. MIGHTY ass.

Dont know why i threw that in there, just felt like it.

I disagree 100% with thinking notld is racist, in my opinon its the opposite. I can't think of a movie before that that had a black lead charcter a very strong one at that. Ben is one of my favorite charcters ever. His one of those charcters I first saw in a horror movie that i said "Damn this guy knows what his doing." Some of the best lines ever. Watching boss around Mr. Cooper I had a smile on my face the whole time. But I respect your opinion and I like hearing everyones.

Uhm, no. Just no.

The message was anti-racist, actually the whole movie is criticizing society, and the messages aren't exactly hidden.

I am saying you're right. It's not really a matter of opinion here, it's about what Romero wanted to say and that wasn't something racist.

For real racist horror movies, you could go back to the 20's and 30's, where on every island there were a couple of white actors painted black and behaving dumb and primitive.

I don't think the end of NOTLD was racist at all. I forget the line that was said by the rednecks before they they shot Ben but I don't think it was "hey look at that black guy over there. Shoot him!" I mean they probably figured most people cleared out of their homes, and Ben did kind of stumble out like a zombie, and if I do recall he was covered in shadow when the men saw him so I don't think you could tell his skin color. But was the hidden message one of racism...? I couldn't say but I remember Romereo saying he connected with the Ben character which probably led to him being the more 'main character', and George wanted everyone to die, with a shocking anti-climatic ending. Perfect fit!

Hell no NOTLD was not racist! The total opposite.

The hero of the movie, in fact the lead actor through out the whole movie is a black person! In fact if anything Romero wanted to make an anti-racist message by casting a black lead on his film.

I'd say LEPRECHAUN BACK 2 DA HOOD was a little back-racist (against white people). This is a little more common in the horror genre, but it's overlooked all the time.

I won't say it's racist. But, ever sicne I was a child, I've always heard complaints about how the black characters die first in horror movies.

Cabin Fever was pretty racist towards rednecks, southerners and country folk.

Dawn of the dead during the SWAT shootout in the beginning. But that's it. It was something that wouldn't be brave enough to be done today.

Very true. At least the source of the racism got what was coming to him.

By the way, love the avatar!
