Sure i kno it'll probly grab sum effects, sound nominations etc. but im talkin proper actin, picture, director.
I kno its still a superhero movie and it is still batman but what do you think we will see such things as a best actor nod for Bale, supporting for a few from the cast (Caine, Wantanabe etc.), i mean look at the cast and director of this movie, if u didnt kno the title or the story wudnt you tihnk it could win some oscars.
What u guys think?

Not a change for best pic, unless it's truly amazing. Like one of the best movies ever made. In that case academy might not be able to ignore it despite the fact that it's a superhero flick. But althought the script is reportedly really good, it plays by the rules and cliches of the genre. This is why the academy will not reward it for best pic, it would have to break the conventions of the genre to be taken seriously enough as a piece of art.

But acting nominations might happen, and it might even win.

Who do you think might get nominated, bale i tihnk has a chance, the conflict which batman encompasses itself will give him a shot, and im lookin at caine and wantanbe both for possible best suporting. i mean after johnny depp this year will open the door for lots more unconventional roles to get acting nods. i still want to see nolan get the best director, nomination at least, which he truly deserved for memento imo.

You have a point there. Personally, I think it's too soon to tell.

Well in that case I think it's best chances would be

Best screenplay adaptation
Best Costume Design
Best Original Score
Best Sound
Best Editing
Best Art Direction

And maybe a Best Actor (Christian Bale) nom.

Considering the pedigree involved, they'd have to take it seriously, considering there's a lot of previously nominated actors in a movie that promises to get rid of the stench of the previous Batman movies

Wow... it's WAY too soon to tell...

The movie hasn't even began shooting it's main photography!!!!

Let's wait for the teaser to start making judgments. Although, I wouldn't mind some wins... :)

Well if Chrsitopher Nolan uses his usual Film Editor, Dody Dorn then i might see a nomination for BEST FILM EDITING, for her work isn't choppy but at a pace that is relevant to the story and the atmosphere.

If Nolan releases the film in 3 parts with an installment out every Xmas he's bound to clean up in the Oscar stakes with the last one;)

I have a better chance of having sex with all the chicks on the WB than Batman being nominated for anything other than technical things. The Academy could never appreciate a comic film(besides Road to Perdition)

Guys lets not try flying before we can even crawl here.

Heres a whacky idea - why don't we wait until we've actually seen the film (shock! horror!) before we even start speculating on such things.

Youre discussing the Oscars in 2006 for chrissake.
