I wouldn't say it was a comedy either, I have heard other classify it as a black comedy though. I guess just because there are some funny moments in it, doesn't make it a comedy

The topic, I believe, is for dark comedies, such as Dr. Strangelove or Fargo. I put Barbershop as a joke. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks all for your replies and keep them comming and I will watch most of these in greater detail.
However one title that came up earlier was "Full Metal Jacket".
I don't see that as a black comedy at all...
Can somebody please explain to me how it is?

Seeing what went on in Full Metal Jacket is not even anything in the realms of a dark comedy.
Maybe Clockwork Orange fits in this category.
Thanks bankholdup, I was just checking.... :D

Through my research I'm kind of getting confused...
Is a dark comedy necissrily a black comedy?
Are they two entirly different genre's?
Are they both the same?
I'm having trouble making up my mind... any help?

This goes back to the questioned that I posed earlier on really what type of (I don't wanna say genre) films is being aimed at here.
All the replies has listed movies classifed as "Dark Comedies". My take on "Black Comedies" is a whole different page. Movies like Barbershop, Car Wash, & Friday just to name a few I consider Black Comedies.

...could you perhaps explain those differences for me?

Is the proper term here "Film Noir Comedy"?
That's just to help you out for technicality on your course... Film Noir is supposed to mean "Dark Film"...
And I do believe Cabin Fever would technically fit.

border: you are thinking Black Comedy being that it is comedies that are aimed at an african americans!
But Black Comedies are Comedies that are more grown up. Or sometimes the humor is more subtle. Or stuff of that nature.
so i agree w/ the above titles like:
Bad Santa
The Ref
The Frighteners
Very Bad Things
stuff of thise nature. Most black comedies are rated R!
