I am just wondering, is there any OTHER obscure songs originally written by that can top this......

-We all know that "Manic Monday" by The Bangles was written by Prince....

- "Human" by Human League was Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis

-"Muscles" by Diana Ross written by Michael Jackson

"Chain Reaction" also by Miss Ross written by Barry Gibb

and speaking of Barry Gibb he did "Islands in The Stream" recorded by Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers

Human Nature was written by members of Toto, but performed by Michael Jackson.

Guitar riffs on Jackson's Beat It were written and performed by Eddie Van Halen.

Nothing Compares 2 U was written for Sinead O'Connor by Prince. Prince has written numerous songs for artists who catch his ear, such as Sheena Easton and Sheila E. He was particularly fond of Susanna Hoffs, which led to his contribution of Manic Monday to the Bangles.

Speaking of which, for the three of you that haven't seen PURPLE RAIN, Darling Nikki was a Prince song before being remade by the Foo Fighters, whom incidentally also covered Gerry Rafferty's 1979 hit Baker Street.

Before Sting performed it in 1987, Little Wing was written and performed by Jimi Hendrix two decades prior.

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me was written primarily by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, but several contributions, including background vocals and some instrumental arrangements, were made by the Beach Boys.

Sting was credited as one of the writers on Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing" because he added and sang the line "I want my MTV" in the song.

Amazing song and one of the best music videos ever.

Sting also did back up during the chorus. I just found that out like yesterday... I was floored.

Actually, he didn't.

Buddy was a big fan of the song and used to listen to it constantly. He ended up covering the song. His version is good, but doesn't beat Mickey & Sylvia's original.

I thought his coral recordings were the first time it was printed.. in fact, on the back of the Coral record that I have, it gives him writing credit.

Buddy's version was done in his home and lasted only a minute and a half until Norman Petty added some musicians and string effects to it in 1968.

hehe, its obvious that there's some tweaaaaaaking going on. have you ever heard it?? The production (which was bad in all of the Coral sessions) is reallly not up to scratch.

Yeah, I have a version of it on one of his albums. It hardly sounds like a song produced in the fifties.

On that note...

Jarvis Cocker wrote Walk Like a Panther for Tony "Is This The Way To Amarillo?" Christie and The All Seeing I. The Pretenders COVERED it not so long ago. Hynde's version is piss-poor, Tony is spot-on.

They all got high together and screwed a lot. One infamous story was when the cops busted in on them tripping out and Marianne was on a bear skin rug in the nude.

Gotta love the urban myth regarding Marianne, Jagger, copious amounts of drugs and the Mars bar.

She's awesome. Jarvis penned "Sliding Thru Life On A Charm" for her, which contains this brilliant snippet,

"Mister, you have finally met your match...
Now everybody wants to kiss my snatch!"

Classy.
