For me the horror movie that gets my everytime I watch it is and always will be Pet Sematary. I think the part that freaks me out every bloody time is when the wife sees Zelda her sister laying in the bed ... sends chills down my back just thinking about it.

The Stendhal Syndrome. Not in the "EEEK" jumping up on chair sense, but the fact that art is used as somewhat as the villain and the tormenter of the leading lady's mind. The attractive rapist acts as somewhat of a second threat, although, the prospect that this man is handsome is still commits such a disgusting crimes.

But only Final Destination still scares me.

Yeah, Final Destination is freaky....
After I watched it the second time the light in my room went out. There was no way I was gonna change a lightbulb after watching Final Destination so I just went straight to bed!!!!!

Ringu, The Eye, Darkness, The Visitors (swedish film about a haunted house, very effective scares)
All these movies are scary and effective in term of spooky atmosphere.

I can honestly say none. I think the only one that comes close it maybe Jaws, cause I have a fear of water and sharks, but it doesn't scare me some scenes just make me still say damn that would suck.

The Ring bothers me too.
Sixth Sense can too.
And no those arent particularly scary as you watch them but some movies are just freaky after!
And Watchers in the Woods. Thank god I dont have that movie. (How the crap is it Disney AND only PG?!)\
Same with Lady in White I suppose.
Misery
03-16-2004, 10:05 PM
I almost never get scared during the movie, it's always after the movie.
Heres some examples (with slight spoilers)
After watching Misery I can't help but "feel" Kathy Bates standing over me as I try to get to sleep in the pitch black
After watching Phantasm, for some reason I always think I'm gonna turn around to find the Tall Man standing in the corner staring at me.
The ending to Sleepaway Camp literally sends chills down my spine (feels weird hehe)
Thats enough examples for now.

Jon Carpenter's Prince of Darkness Throbbing, pulsing music. Eerie atmosphere. Those creepy steps heading down to the basement with that creepy swirling green bottled mass. The pregnant bloody sick looking evil woman with "The mark." Alice Cooper and his gang of homeless creeps. The dream videos of someone coming out of the church.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Being specific the scene where pam stumbles into the room filled with bones and feathers and the chicken in the cage ive seen some weird crap in my time and so far its the most unsettling thing i have ever seen on film seen it 50 times atleast and it never looses its effect.

I just watched that one pretty recently. A great family fright flick. I really enjoyed it. And it potentially could have been very scary at times. Bette Davis rules.
As for a horror film that gets me every time I watch it,...I'd have to say Philadelphia. Not because of the AIDS virus. But any movie that deals with the grim reality of disease so vividly really makes my blood freeze. Watching that one once was enough. And yet I love Cronenberg.
Go figure.

Definitely Suicide Club. That movie shocked me with its mixture of gore, peer pressure, pop music, and teenage innocence.

Halloween is always still creepy although it's hard for a movie to scare you over and over. Wrong Turn also has some very hard to watch moments towards the begining.

Session 9. I've seen it over 20 times, and "Simon's" voice still creeps me out when he's on the tape telling about the murders.

As embarrasing as this is...IT.
OK, i only say this because i watched it when i was 9 and i have a great fear of clowns..but all i know is that i couldnt sleep properly for 4 months..i didnt even watch the whole thing. I was trying to play it all cool with my buddies around but when bedtime came..i was so terrified...after that experience no movie has succeeded in scaring me...the closest one was the ring..i actually felt my heart beat faster...which is a feat in itelf.

Hellraiser 1 and 2 also freaked me out
Exorcist messed me up
Texas Chainsaw Massacre gave me the creeps
But the movie that really messed me up was
the original "nightmare on elm street"
Nothing compares to it.

For me, it's without a doubt Jacob's Ladder from beginning to end i feel very uncomfortable and creeped out every friggin time i watch that movie, the parts that really fuck me up r " the horrific tripped out dance club scene" and the ending hospital from hell. Another movie that does me in pretty much every time i watch it is Pet Semetary, watching a 3 year old kid slice a man's heel with a scapel then bite his throat out is'nt exactly my cup a tea, and lets not forget the extremely creepy sister. "NEVER!,NEVER,NEVER!."  :(

I also still get creeped out by "Carrie." I mean, the split-screen finale is unlike anything ever done by horror directors.
