As I remember it, "The Wall" was just a big freaky drug trip film...some of it was okay, but then there was just some weird shit that was acid-induced and some shit that was reminiscent of "Heavy Metal"....
oh and my favorite Pink Floyd album is Dark Side of The Moon (no, i am not being a poseur, so don't judge me ;))
on a side note, David Gilmour was uber-hot back in the day (not so much now, though)

I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but...I hate Roger Waters. I like Pink Floyd, though. I can't help but notice that Gilmour's singing was more crisp, in tune, and above all, not caterwalling. My favorite Floyd Album is probably Momentary Lapse Of Reason, although I love early Floyd too...as long as Gilmour is singing. Next on the list would be Wish You Were Here, followed by Dark Side Of The Moon.
I like Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall the best. I think they were an insanely uneven band, but they definitely had their stretches of brilliance.

Floyd's awesome, man. My favorite album by them is Animals, cause it's got a story to it (so does the Wall, but the Wall was almost too long). After that, it would be DSOTM, WYWH, Meddle, the Wall, and Momentary Lapse of Reason.

I've only ever heard Echoes, but I liked most of what I heard.
They've got a lot of great tunes, Echoes, Another Brick in the Wall, (I forget which part), Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, but by far my favourite Pink Floyd is...
Comfortably Numb.
I think this song is absolutely fantastic.
By the way, between Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb", Linkin Park's, "Numb", and U2's "Numb", I've never heard a song with 'Numb' in the title that I didn't love.

Probably not, as it didn't really have an actual story to it, like the Wall did. They could maybe make one of Animals, though.

My favorite band of all time.
My favorite album is Dark Side of the Moon, mainly for Brain Damage which is my favorite song by them. I also love Meddle for it's smoothe simple soul and Astronomy Domine is a fantastic song.
As for 'the wall' as a movie, it's ok every once in a while. I like the imagination behind it and the 'mother' sequence. Roger Waters really poured his theatrics into the album though and it's kind of distracting at times. I like the 'crazy' animation at the end. I'd probably buy the dvd on the discount rack.

Dark Side has a semi-narrative though, it could work.

I think it could.. Especially with "Time" I thought of many conecepts for that song that could easily be adapted to a film piece.
Another fan right here!
Actually I just bought this DVD: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0398868/
I can really recommend it, great stuff!

Go Floyd. I really enjoy the CD Wish You Were Here. I would buy the Wall on DVD. Although it was pretty freaky I enjoy it.
I know parts 1-2 of Shine on You Crazy Diamond, but where can I get parts 3-5? Or am I missing something?

On the Wish You Were Here album...the first Shine On You Crazy Diamond (clocking in at 13:40), is actually parts 1-5. Then, the next SOYCD (12:31) are parts 6-9.

I LOVE Pink Floyd!!! Not that crazy about the post Waters stuff but it definitely aint bad.
The Wall film is good but I feel that it starts out strong & gets weak towards the end. I have probably only watched the whole film twice. I never really have the patience to listen to the whole Wall album either.
If you want a kick ass Floyd movie, get Live At Pompeii!!!! And don't watch The Director's Cut, the DVD has the option to watch the original. Or watch VHS if you have to. This film is great not so much for the visuals (kind of cheesy) but for the awesome live sound (crank it!) & the stuff featured between the songs (recording of Dark Side & listening to the band members talk). People act like Floyd were all studio production but if you watch this you'll see how good they were LIVE!!!
You may laugh but I also recommend watching Wizard of Oz w/ Dark Side of the Moon. You know it wasn't meant to be. If it was wouldn't the album last as long as the movie? BUT, if you do it, you'll definitely see a bunch of things match up. I won't spoil anything for you just in case. Just start playing the Floyd at the 3rd roar of the MGM lion.

Interesting. Thanks, Jerk (snicker, snicker), because SOYCD is my favorite Floyd song, and I was worried I still had 3 more parts to collect.
