Yeah, all signs point to "bullshit." If it turns out to be legitimate, Anchor Bay could just as easily sell their titles to a deserving company (Blue Underground springs to mind).

If I recall, I remember reading a story at Creature Corner about AB being bought, but not by a company that wants to make it a family friendly DVD producer.

I read this somewhere else, but I don't think this will happen. Even if it does, the article stated that it will function the same, but will just have a name change.

So it wouldn't affect anything much if it was to be bought out.
