From Barker's Books of Blood series: The Case of Jacqueline S, The Yattering and Jack (even though Tales from the Darkside had a cute half hour version of it years ago. It should be a full blown hour.)
From the Book of the Dead series: Wormboy by the greatest David Show, Calcutta Lord of Nerves by Poppy Z Brite, and A Sad Lost Love at the something something diner - the author escapes me. Ok now I'm pissed I can't find my copy. Fuck.

also from Barker's Books of Blood, The Midnight Meat Train would be very cool.
also, the novel The Risen by J. Knight would kick ass as well.

A thread shows up like this every once in a while, and I always say the novellette by Stephen King, The Mist. But heavy on the interactions going on in the supermarket rather than some special effect from hell with the creatures outside. This is a story that I think would film better without seeing "the boogeyman", or rather "boogey-prehistoric-mutations".

"Dark Mountain" by Richard Laymon, for sure. It would make an excellent B-grade type horror film.
"Night Sisters" by John Pritchard. One of the few books to truly scare me.
I didn't enjoy "Meg" by Steve Alten all that much, but I do agree that it would make for a very good movie.

Oh totally. That is a good one and I am not a huge Stephen King fan. However, theatrically I could see where it would closely resemble Dean Kootnz' book made into a movie Phantoms.
