Same as before except this poll is made to find out when the Halloween series jumped the shark. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I'm going with the THORN plotline. For me, it took away much of the intensity of the series, and much of the fear of Michael Myers.

For me, the horrifying element was that this was someone that could be in your hometown. The type of guy that you could see slowly strolling down the sidewalk of Main Street at 12:30 at night that just gives you that "shit in the pants" feel.

And when Thorn took over the storyline, it just made me depressed. I sat around in my sister's cheerleading outfit for three weeks watching the home shopping network after Halloween 6 came out.

I voted for H20. I think Resurrection was the worst in the series but H20 was the point where it jumped. Seems like it will be the point of no return. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Killing Laurie Strode --- Michael's prime, final target bites it right off the bat - what the hell?!

My choice isn't there: After the 1st. I don't think it was ever series material and wish there was only the amazing first film.

Excluding part 3 because I haven't seen it, the series jumped after part 4. It should have ended there. The ending was perfect.

HALLOWEEN 5

Everything was alright (I didn't even think #3 was that horrible) until this, one of the shittiest movies I've ever seen, came along...Nice recovery with H20, though.

The series should have ended after part 2, (though I don't wanna dis part 3, haven't seen it).

Part 4 was good, but I never really saw the point of continuing the series (apart from to make money, of course!!)

Aside from being just about the ONLY person that liked H20 (minus LL Cool J), I wish the entire series would have ended at Halloween 2. After first seeing ads about Halloween 3 years ago when it came out, I rolled my eyes and thought "what's next?" I tend to hate horror franchises that go on and on and on and on and on and on....and on.

I'm going to say it jumped with Halloween 5, considering H4 was the last film of the series that I found worthwhile.

(I kinda like a few after that, but in a guilty pleasure sorta way.)

H20. That movie and Halloween: Resurrection really killed the series for me.

I'm surprised so many people have picked H20. Yeah, it's overly trendy and LL Cool J is completely out of place, but I felt it did what it set out to do. I chose the Thorn plotline as the jump the shark moment. That always reeked of Z-grade cheese to me, turning a frightening, single-minded killing machine into cliche city, with ludicrous story threads all over the place. At least H20 got back down to basics. Unfortunately, Resurrection was just TOO basic. Guilty pleasure movie for me, but artistically and stylistically bankrupt - and yet still better than parts 5 and 6!

I almost went for Halloween 2, due to its 'follow the leader' approach of being basically a rip off of its own trend setting, but it still irks me having a Part 3 that sticks out like a sore thumb, rather, a smashed thumb, therefore Season of the Witch gets my vote for shark jumping.

The birth defect that is Halloween 5. Everything up to that point pacified me with varying degrees of success.

They should have called it a day after part 2.

Season Of The Witch - didn't mid the film but shouldn't have been called Halloween 3 should have been separate from the series.

The minute John Carpenter put pen to paper on Halloween II, the series "jumped the shark."

Amen to that. I always thought Halloween would have been perfect as a trilogy: Halloween, Halloween II, H20. Resurrection killed the series for me.

As with the NIGHTMARE thread I'm bringing this one back up also. Too bad it's too late to enter the remake as an option. Not that I would vote for it but I'm sure others would. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

None of those listed, continuing with the whole Myers storyline is what ruined what could have been an amazing series, if only they continued after Season of the Witch doing what Halloween was meant to be with different stories.

I can only dream of the gems that might have been made instead of the complete garbage we got.

I really hate Halloween 5 as it was the first time the series tried to make you feel sorry for Michael with him crying. He's fucking pure evil, he doesn't need to cry.

The Thorn plot. Not only did it make less than zero sense, it was a cheap plot device that allowed Michael to brought back for endless fucking sequels, to say nothing of the fact that Resurrection had NOTHING to do with that storyline whatsoever.

H20 hands down.

DEFINITELY Halloween 5. All the films before it are at least "good". Everything 5 and after is garbage. Part 1 is a masterpiece, Part 2 is alright, Part 3 is a cool movie and people hate on it far too much, and 4 is decent.

Resurrection's the only thing about the series I really dont like. And even that can be decent.

H20

Lets pretend 4-6 never happend. Even though part 6 has an openend ending.

They could've taken 10 mins. of film and connected 6-H20. But why try to be creative.

Either Laurie's death (totally downplayed & treated as hardly anything special), or that steaming pile of shit Rob Zombie recently foisted upon the public. Worst movie I've ever seen in a theater.

Excuse me if it's inappropriate to ask this on a poll thread. Since I'm not familiar with the Halloween series, I'm curious - at what point does the "Thorn plotline" begin?

teenkiller
10-07-2007, 06:36 PM
The whole Thorn story is in Part 6 (Curse of Michael Myers), but they begin hinting at it in Part 5. In the fifth movie we see Michael with the Thorn symbol on his wrist and he is also being pursued by The Man in Black. However at that point the audience didn't know what their relevance was. In fact even the filmmakers didn't know. They just kind of threw it in there not even knowing where they were going to take the series. Then in the sixth one they decided to use the cult as an explanation... did that make sense? Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Which unfortunatly caused the H2O mess. They went and re-edited H-6 and made it worse. Then they released it into theates. It didnt make any money. So then they just scrapped the ideas in Halloween 4-6. I didnt mind H2O as a movie, it was o.k.. But since it dismisses 4-6, I dont like it. To just say those movies never happened is pretty lame. Then to follow H2O with the HORRIBLE "Ressurection" made things worse.
