I don't post in this forum very often, but I would just like to express my thoughts to you all about my new music "discovery". Last week, it was around 5:00 in the morning, and I was surfing through the television channels even though I was half-asleep. Then, all of a sudden, I stumbled upon this enchanting song on MTV which just rocked my world - it was a song called "Maps" by a rock band I had never heard of called the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. When I was listening to the song, I awoke from my slumber, and I just couldn't believe the beauty of this song I was hearing.

After the song was over, I told myself that I was going to buy their album tomorrow as soon as possible - and I did. I bought the album at BestBuy for a dirt cheap price of $9.99. As soon as I got home, I popped it into my CD drive in my computer, and I just started to listen to "Maps" over and over again. This is just a beautiful and magical song. It does not have a lot of lyrics, but that does not take away from the song's beauty.

Anyway, I have listened to the rest of the album, and I would say the Yeah Yeah Yeahs share the most similarities with The White Stripes. The album itself is quite a solid debut, but it isn't a mind-blowing one. However, the band still rocks and some serious potential. The vocalist of the band, Karen O, has an incredible voice. Her voice has so much range - it shifts from high-pitch screams to raw emotion to soft-spoken beauty.

The album is really worth purchasing just for the final 3 tracks including "Maps", which are all pretty damn good, and show that this band has a lot of potential. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a band I will be keeping my eye out for a sophomore album. If the last 3 songs are some kind of an indication, then this band will have a promising future ahead.

You'll have to excuse all this long-winded jabber I'm writing, but I just had to say something about the band. And now, this finally leads me to my question for you all: has anyone hear heard of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, listen to "Maps", or purchased their debut album? I hope I'm not the only one...... ;)

PS: As I was writing this, I was listening to "Maps", and I'll continue to listen to the song until I get tired of it! :D

I just got back from seeing them for the second time and I'm still buzzed from the awesome time I just had. They played pretty much every song theyve ever made and Karen O just owned that stage while she was on it. Someone gave her roses and she went buck wild with them for about 4 songs using them as props and just having fun on stage. I love that woman. Well anyways the two other bands that opened up for them were really good, Entrance and kill me tomorrow so if this tour comes near you. GO.

I first discovered The Yeah Yeah Yeahs on David Letterman. Dave seemed to give them a bit of hype, and I thought they had a very clever name. When they played, the blew my friggin' mind away. I bought their album and fell in love with their punk/rock all-out coolness. One of the coolest bands to come out in quite a while.

If you liked Fever to tell, Check out this little album. It's a bit rougher than fever but it still shines.
