JC CHASEZ SLAMMED BY SCHIZOPHRENIA CAMPAIGNERS
'N Sync singer JC Chasez has infuriated campaigners trying to dispel stereotypical myths about the mentally ill, by calling his solo album Schizophrenic.
The singer can be seen in a straightjacket with his hair in a mess and a menacing look in his eyes on the CD sleeve, and his decisions have angered those trying to inform the public about the disease.
Schizophrenia Digest publisher Bill MacPhee tells Page Six, "BMG Zomba and Jive have ignored the U.S. Surgeon General's call on the entertainment industry to help eliminate stigma to address the public health crisis that exists."
"This album grossly misrepresents the nature of the disease. It is important for us all to understand the real symptoms and real implications of the disease. Ignorance will only stall advances for current and future disease sufferers."
JC immediately responded, "I apologize to anyone I may have offended with the title and cover of my album. I took artistic license ... as it was in reference to the wide range of music styles in the album."
