The thread about films from the German perspective in WWII got me thinking about a thought I've had. I can't think of any films about the Vietnamese war from the perspective of the Vietnamese (I had heard of Cross of Iron and Das Boat before). The closest I know of is We Were Soldiers - hell, that is the only movie about Vietnam I know of that gives even the slighest of humanized qualities to Vietnamese soldiers, for which I give it props.

I'm assuming there are at least a handful of films about the Vietnam war from a Vietnamese perspective (preferably a soldier's perspective) made in Vietnam (from what I've read, it looks like Vietnam is becoming a pretty good film producer), but I don't know of any.

I recommend you check out Oliver Stone's underrated Heaven & Earth.

Yup. I thought that was a great film, seriously underrated... I would give it 8/10.

Yes, that is a great film. One of Jones's best performances.

9/10.

In a way We Were Soldiers shows, briefly, the viewpoint of the Vietnamese.
