So about an hour ago, I left my apartment to return Michael Moore's The Big One back to the library.

I then decide to go check my account balance at the nearby CIBC on Spring Garden Road, cuz well you know Im a broke ass student waiting for that lovely money from the sky, the student loan. Anyways, I leave the bank and walk out onto the street and I see a man and woman walking across the street....and the man looks familiar.

I look closer and I see the big eyebrows, the brown rimmed glasses, and holy cow its Eugene Levy. I look around me and people are staring at this well dressed couple walking down the street.

So in classic "OH MY GOD ITS A MOVIE STAR" fashion, I do the Double Take.

Mind you I dont exactly have a giraffe nor a turkey neck, but somehow I managed to nearly turn my head half way behind my head and gawk and lo and behold, it is EUGENE LEVY!

Mitch, Jim's Dad, EUGENE FREAKING LEVY.

I almost shit my pants......then they were gone down the street.

In my 21 year sof existence I have had the pleasure of physically bumping into Gary Oldman, chatting with Gabriel Byrne at a video store, chatting with Rachel Skarsten and Lindze Lethermen in my hometown library and seeing that snotty has been actress Demi Moore driving away in her van.

But heck, this takes the cake. Eugene Levy is a comic genius, one of my favorite film stars.....the man is awesome.

And I didnt even talk to him, but just to see him live in the flesh made my day...

:D

Good job of finding him my friend. Maybe next time you can advance to the next phase, which is a nervous, choking "Hi" as he walks by

LOL....... He and his wife were all dressed up looking like they were going some where so out of politeness I purposely didnt say Hi.....if they werent all dressed up, and it wasnt supper hour maybe I would have.

He probably gets fans greeting him all the time, which probably become annoying after awhile.

Ah well running into people you've seen on screen is a bit strange. About 5 years ago I ran into robert carlyle (trainspotting, full monty, world is not enough, the beach) and he has this huge presence on screen and it turns out in real life I'm about a foot taller than him- I'm 6 foot 3- it was bizarre.

Levy's very cool.;)

In the past two weeks I've met and spoke with Michael Chiklis and Chloris Leachman. Both were very gracious.

Most well known person I've 'bumped into' is Catherine Zeta Jones, but it was before she was internationally known. She comes from the same region of Wales as me, so we parked in a shitty car park one day in the city of Swansea, and she pulled up right beside us with her mother, and someone else who must have been her grandmother. They were driving a small Peugeot, which is quite a change to what she drives around in now.

I'm quite positive I saw Frank Whaley on the subway on Saturday. I was going downtown to see the parade and he stepped on the train with another man. It was either him or someone who looked exactly like him. Later, I checked to see if he was filming a movie or show in Chicago or if he lived here. Also tried to find out if he's gay, but I couldn't find anything. I feel like I should've said something like "Check out the brains on Brett".

A person I know had Salma Hayek wave to him. He also saw Chris Kattan walking past him(set visit at SNL). When he was walking he screamed "You guys want some cookies?"

Chris laughed.

I wasn't there but I envy him for seeing Hayek.

I think I once seen Richard Hatch (Survivor) once in my mall. But I'm not completely sure, I was in a store and glanced over and seen him walking by. Wish I could have gotten a better look.

But, Daniel Day Lewis was in Souris for a bit, filming a movie, perhaps, I'm not sure.

Alfred, the butler from the 4 Batman movies was in Summerside for quite a while. Never seen him, though. Heh, I think our small little town was intimadated by him.

And Sean Connery was in Cavendish, with, I think it was his wife. Never got to see him, either.

I met and talked to Eric Idle when he was on his Greedy Bastard Tour a couple months back. He was pretty cool until I said something stupid, then his dissed me. Asshole. But it was still cool to see him and get an autograph. His skits from Monty Python were funny as fuck.

Lucky son of a...the only celebrity I've ever met was some baseball player who I didn't even know was famous while I was talking to him. It wasn't until after he said goodbye and walked away, and was stopped by someone asking for his autograph that I realized "Woah, is this guy famous?" Yep, he sure was. But I've yet to meet a celebrity that I recognized.

I haven't seen anyone in a while, but my friend walked by Quentin Tarantino up in hollywood not too long ago. He said that Tarantino looked like he was high.

Oh and I was threatened (jokingly) with a gun by baseball legend Rod Carue.

I've stayed in the same hotel with rap group Bone Thugs in Harmony. They were walking around my floor, all f'd up on ecstasy. Funny stuff.
Hmmm...I also saw Jerry Springer (a very long time ago) at a nearby Perkins. But that was when he was still in politics.

Those are about the only celebrites I've seen in public.

At this event at Disney-oh how I loathe them, I told Gary Sinise that I loved him-and he blew me a kiss.

I could have died, gone to hell, and still have been happy

I've had the honor of meeting my idol Mr.Kirk Hammet and i mean meeting not a hand shake at a meet and greet i mean meeting and having a 15 minute conversation with THEE kirk hammet. I was hanging out at a local mom and pop store that as it so happens is frequented by kirk when tallica comes to town which i didnt know at the time. Sitting there browsing i hear the motion detecter by the door beep and im thinkin hey just another patron right? wrong! I'm still looking at all shit when the guy asks for some ernie ball's and being the metallica fan that i am i reconise his voice right off the bat and start to freak. And then i start the same old star struck praise session and then we talk! real talk too not just a 'hi' and a 'seeya' it was legit talking. He had to leave after a awile but i'm never gonna forget that day ROCK ON!

Oh and i've also meet the traffic and weather guys from my local tv station:D

My bloke sat opposite Gary Oldman on the London Underground a few weeks back.

I got a comprehensive stop-by-stop rundown plus an impromptu impression...

"He was staring...errr, like this"

*Cue bog-eyed stare*

Joy.

Eugene Levy is WAY kewl though. His bushy brows hypnotise me.

Eugene Levy is awesome all the way back to his days on SCTV.

I was at a small BBQ with a top-paid actress once.

Once.

It was cool, but it really jaded me on the starry-eyed surprise jovialness that I'd always assumed I'd never get over.

It gets freaky seeing people in the bushes with cameras. Oh, if only they were trying to get my picture....

People are people -- some people are just more famous.

However, it IS a very humbling experience seeing someone you've only seen in two dimensions, out doing stuff that you and your friends do. They really are just regular people. I mean, it made me feel that if they did stuff like I do, maybe it's not all that unrealistic to hope that one day you can be in a position like they are in.

Oh, the dreams we have.

Smooth move on leaving Levy alone, ideal. You're a respectful fan. Imagine what it would be like if you worked at a video store, and everytime you went out, people all came up to you, and knew you as the guy who works at the video store.

"Hey, video store dude! Man, I love how you keep all of the movies alphabetized. You rock!"

My claims to fame are walking past Chris Noth on the street, standing three people in front of Glenn Close on the popcorn line at the movie theater and talking to American Pie/About a Boy director Chris Weitz inside a Virgin Megastore.

Well, I saw Lisa Turtle from SBTB at Disneyland about ten years ago, waiting in line for space mountain. My friend and I followed her around for like 15 minutes, but then we got bored and went to the arcade.

Thanks Guys for the feedback!

Anywho I found out why Eugene Levy was in Halifax!

A buddy of mine who is an RA at Dalhousie University which I attend gave the Levy's a tour of the residence where he works at.

Eugene's daughter is attending DAL come fall and he and his wife wanted to tour the University to see it for themselves!

Eugene Levy is not only a class act comedian , but a class-act parent IMO. Its obvious that he values being a parent, visiting her soon to be post-secondary institutuin to see what its like!

Eugene is the friggin' man, man!

I'm so jealous! Eugene Levy is awesome!! was he pretty tall? he always seemed short to me...

something weird like that happened to me once too! I was like 12-13 years old (so about 7- 8 years ago) I was at a pool party and who should show up, but Mr. Jim Carrey ! it was so weird, but he's actually kind of quiet. Then just within the last two months, John Sayles is filming his new movie Silver City in Colorado, so they were holding open auditions for extras and a couple bit parts, sadly I turned in my resume too late :( but I did find out where they were shooting and I got to meet Chris Cooper who's like one of my idols so I was very happy, and he gave me his autograph, very nice guy! :)

I have a strange affiliation with Alice in Chains.

One day, my friends Matt and Nick were walking around the streets of Seattle, and a guy was buying tickets at a ticket booth. My friend Matt said, "That voice sounds familiar," and he looks - sure enough, it's Layne Stayley, the lead singer from Alice in Chains! Matt is a super fan of Alice..., so he decided to follow him around and see where he was going. After a couple of hours, Matt and Nick were sitting on a bench just outside the pawn shop that Stayley was shopping in, and Matt said, "C'mon, let's go. I think he knows we're following him."
Right at that moment, Stayley walks out of the pawn shop, looks at Matt, smiles and says, "Nice shirt." Then walks away.
Matt looked down at his shirt which said, "Heroin kills rock stars dead".
The funniest thing of all, is that four years later, heroin killed that rock star dead.

I have a friend who went to the same church as Jerry Cantrell, and he sometimes played guitar for church services every once in a while.

At the video store I worked at, there was a kid and his mother checking out a movie (big surprise). I noticed his Alice in Chains shirt, and his mother mentioned that she was friends with the mother of Layne Stayley. The kid was like, "Really, mom?! You never told me that!" She then talked about how he never comes home, painted his bedroom black and basically disses his whole family.

One day when I was much younger, I went to Guitar World in Seattle. I was in a soundproof room messing around with some electric guitars. This long haired blonde guy walked in and asked if he could listen to me play. I was thinking, No, but I said "ok".
After a few minutes, he brought in a guitar, and we jammed for like a half hour. It was pretty fun, the guy was pretty good, and people were looking in at us like we were The Shit or something. Wow, we must be sounding good, I thought. We stopped playing, and as we left the sound room everyone was looking at us like we were some magical creatures or something.
I shook the guy's hand, said it was fun jamming with him, and he left.
It was still quiet in the store, and I gave back the guitar. The clerk was like, "You wanna buy it, then?" I said, "no" and left.
A week later, the new issue of Guitar magazine came out, and who is on the cover? Jerry Cantrell. The guy I jammed with just a week before.

If he started to sing, I would have known right away it was him. But blurry black and white photos were all I saw of Cantrell that day I met him. :P

So, I had a wierd Six Degrees of Alice in Chains thing goin' on.
