Richard Matheson has contributed much to the genre. TV series to motion pictures have been adapted from his writings and screenplays. What is your favorite Matheson work?
A very tough choice but I go with John Hough's The Legend of Hell House which was based on his novel "Hell House".

I went with Stir of Echoes, though I think you left out Omega Man out of your list dude. Though I dont think it would be considered amongst his best...:D And its only loosely based on his work really.
If Id have to choose his best written work, Id go with I am Legend of course. :D

The Devil Rides Out. Excellent piece of British Satanic horror.

Stir of Echoes, but Duel is a close second.

Great poll, CABRINI GREEN! It's rare that horror writers are honored for their creations. Although I loved pretty much everything on that list, I've gotta go with the original TWILIGHT ZONE! The best television series ever! Matheson's contributions were terrific.

Voted for Pit and Pendulum....ultimate classic horror with Price, Steele, Corman at the helm...with THE castle footage used in so many future horror flicks. One of my all time faves!
Honorable mentions to Duel, Twilight Zone (TV), and Trilogy of Terror. Another one not a choice to vote for:The Last Man on Earth ('64), also with Vincent Price. Technically an adaptation of Matheson's I Am Legend, but he did help with the script under a different name.

Had to go with one not on the list....The Comedy Of Terrors....Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Basil Rathbone...and the movie itself is hilarious.

Can you really give him credit for Poe's work????
House of Usher and The Pit and the Pendulum were written by Edgar Allen Poe.

Well, i gotta go with the original "Twiling Zone" episodes. Matheson and Serling were geniuses, and that's putting it lightly. I love Twilight Zone marathons!!!!
Gotta love "Stir of Echoes" too. Nicely done by David Koepp and crew.

The Devil Rides Out - It's good to see Christopher Lee playing a 'goodie'.

i voted for hell house. i absolutely love that film and i love roddy mccdowell in it. i noticed in the poll that the majority of the vote is for stir of echoes. i think that is because it is the most recent and sticks out in fans minds. IMHO echoes is a great movie but cannot hold a candle to hell house,
