Having seen Magnolia before Boogie Nights, it can be said that PT Anderson has a very unique way of directing films. The first hour of the flick was discouraging and unoriginal, as it was just a pr0n movie about making pr0n movies (but Heather Graham's body was hawt). The second hour I watched today was magnificent (especially when Mark Wahlberg and the other two set up a fake drug trade w/ all the fire crackers going off). Punch Drunk Love was also amazing and this movie will be stuck in my head for quite some time. Opinions?

I like the fact that it is a movie about porn, that everyone in it is overly flawed, AND it has a "happy" ending.
Pun intended.

I like Boogie Nights a lot. I think it's a very underrated film, and the Newline Platinum Series DVD is well worth the money for the extras!

Cool, I'm wearing my Boogie Nights shirt right now. Love the movie, have the dvd, might watch the commentary sometime, although I hear every other word is "fuck".

It's still a toss up for me deciding which is the best DVD I own between Boogie Nights and Fight Club. I could go either way on that one depending on which I had most recently watched.
Personally it's easily my favorite of the P.T. Anderson flicks. I like all of them a lot, but Boogie Nights stands out the most to me. Luis Guzman and John C. Reily just kill me every time I watch it.

I think it's a great movie. The direction that PT Anderson took was superb.
Boogie Nights is one of my most rewatched DVD's.

I never get tired of this movie. Very well paced and characters a quite engaging. One of my all time faves. The more you watch it the better it gets. To me, that's always a sign of a great movie.

Boogie Nights is one of my favorite movies. I have seen it close to 10 times and it is always thoroughly entertaining, engaging, and fun to watch. Plus it has one of the best soundtracks for any movie of the past few decades. It's my favorite PTA film.

I just got done watching this, i picked it up today as a blind buy specifically because i saw the "love" from this board.
Boogie Nights - 8/10 superb!
This was a great story and marky mark, i mean mark wilbergerassdfghcasdflaskjdfl;askjf.... is a very underated actor, this showed tremendous talent.
The ending - although not the best thing to see, it is basically what the entire movie lead up to.

This is my favorite PT Anderson movie, and one of my favorite movies of the 90's. I've seen it 6 or 7 times, and I like it just as much as I did the first time, if not more.
The commentary tracks on the Platinum Series DVD kind of turned me off though. PT Anderson, for being such a great director, really seems like kind of an asshole. I know I shouldn't judge him based just on that (I think he was drunk anyway), but that sort of ruined my image of him. I still like him as a director though.
