I personally am glad for this Deluxe Edition... I didn't get a chance to pick up Spider Man and was thinking about buying it the other day. So yeah I can't wait to pick the DELUXE Edition up, not the Superbit
:p

I think that cover is pretty cool. I like how they turned the goldish picture blue, neat stuff.

All it looks like they added to the new edition is more self promotion fluff. Nothing really in-depth on the making of the movie.

I think I will have to pass. I don't think it could be any better then the 1st and the 1st "SE" was crap. Good thing the movie was good. I was so disapointed on the "SE". Oh wells.

I only have one Superbit DVD (Panic Room) and Panic Room doesn't have a regular case its like 5 times smaller, its really skinny, and it has a little box which something comes out of and folds out :s Kinda hard to explain... If you have Will And Grace or seen the case for it, its like that but really small.

I keep saying it over and over and over again: this is what I fucking hate about these money-hungry bastards! They screw over the average DVD buyer with a bare-bones piece of shit DVD with hardly any special features, and then, several months or a year later, they release a fucking ultimate or exclusive or limited or collector or special edition DVD with all the kick-ass features on it! This is what fucking pisses me off!

I'm trying to be very careful with the DVD's I purchase these days. From now on, I'm going to try my best to not allow these bastards to rip me off. For example: I did not buy 21 Grams, and I will not be buying Kill Bill: Vol. 1 because they are both bare-bone DVD's, and there will be SE's for both films released eventually. The only time I will give these bastards my money for both editions is if its for a movie I really loved or enjoyed. Say, for example, The Lord of the Rings films.

Anyway, please forgive the rant, and for getting off the topic. As for this "ultimate" edition of Spider-Man, even though I already have the shitty first DVD, I will purchase this one as well. I loved the film, and I really like the special features listed on the DVD. So it looks like those bastards will screw me outta my money once again. It's never going to stop, I tell you. DVD buyers like myself are going to continue to be screwed and defeated, and it's very unfortunate. But what can you do? :D

Well I never really liked Spiderman that much so I'm not too worried about the DVD.

Meh, already got the SE and another commentary doesn't justify me double-dipping. Seems like another in a line of fairly needless 3 disc über editions looking to cash in.

Besides, THIS (http://xtremdvd.montreal-virtuel.com/images/images-news/i-spideman-gift-set.jpg) edition is 10x greater than the new one

I can't seem to tell, can someone tell me how this version improves over the last? The extras are nearly identical!

It has an extra commentary (I believe it is the one that was conducted live online some time ago) by Tobey Maguire and a Spidey 2 trailer, I'll wait to hear how good the commentary is, what I really wanted on this disc was an in depth documentary like Evolution X from X-Men 1.5.

What extra commentary? The orginal edition has two, and this one has the same exact two.

Oh, this is from dvdfile.com:

"Already priming the pump in time for the summer premiere of Spider-Man 2, Columbia will of course be re-releasing the original blockbuster in a myriad of new versions. In addition to the widescreen and full screen collector's sets and the deluxe gift box already on the market, on June 1st the studio will unleash Spider-Man: Deluxe Edition, which includes an anamorphic widescreen transfer and English and French Dolby 5.1 surround tracks, plus all the same extras as the previous version. So, what's new? Well, according to the press materials so far, absolutely nothing but new packaging. (Stay tuned for an update.) And what would a bit of Spidey over-promotion be without the requisite Spider-Man Superbit edition, which will also hit stores on the 1st and include an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the film, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks and in keeping with the Superbit concept, no extras. Retail will be the typically overpriced $26.95, for a movie-only disc that most other major studios routinely price for $19.95 or less."

I thought they will finally unleash a true making-of documentary, unlike the fluffs (though enjoyable) from the first edition.

I'll hold on to me wallet on this one.

BOO!!! Screw them... they ain't gettin' my money on this one!!

The first one had special features a comin' out the ass. I even went the extra mile and purchased the box set edition with all the extra goodies in it... there is absolutely no need for a re-release of this film. The first DVD was more than sufficient....

Damn, it's not safe to buy anything anymore. Now not only do I have to worry about price drops six months in the future (I walked past a rack of "Under $20" DVD's two days ago where I worked, and I counted... 13 DVD's that I purchased when they were first released for at least $13 dollars more... We're talking $170 frikkin' dollars there!), but I have to worry about super special sooped up special editions eventually being re-released as super duper special sooped up special editions... bite me...

Well, the Maguire commentary is a Superbit-only, it's not (according to the specs we know now) going to be in the Deluxe Edition.
