Terminator or Terminator 2?/ Predator or Predator 2?

I can't believe i've been on these pages for a month and forgotten to mention the origin of the biggest movie arguements of mine/my friends teenage life.

The two questions are:

1. Which moive is better/ do you prefer?
TERMINATOR or TERMINATOR 2

2. Which movie is better/ do you prefer?
PREDATOR or PREDATOR 2


In my opinion TERMINATOR is superior to TERMINATOR 2, and PREDATOR is better than PREDATOR 2. My friends and i argued a lot cos most of them think the sequels are superior in both cases! What do y'all think?

TERMINATOR 2 boasts the most kick-ass (and four time Oscar-winning) FX I have EVER seen in not only the horror and sci-fi genres, but in all of the categories in movieland. Arnold and Linda Hamilton were great! Edward Furlong was impressive in his screen debut, and Robert Patrick as the T-1000 proved to be the meanest S.O.B. this side of Elm Street.

I used to prefer "Terminator" to "T2" because the first has a much leaner, tighter plot. Yet, the more I watch "T2" the more I appreciate its themes and concerns. At this point they're neck and neck with me, but if I have a gun to my head, I'll choose the first "Terminator."

"Predator," on the other hand, is far better than its sequel. "Predator 2's" main problem is its nearly identical plot. The main characters should have been the government agents hunting the Predator, not the LAPD, since it can be assumed that the audience has seen the first movie, knows what's going on, and wants to learn more about the creature, just as the agents do. Still, "P2" is not a bad sequel at all, as far as unnecessary sequels go.

TERMINATOR 2 takes the cake in that series. Though I have my doubts regarding TERMINATOR 3. No Linda Hamilton? No James Cameron? Why bother?

PREDATOR is superior to PREDATOR 2 on one line alone, "I ain't got time to bleed." Plus, the movie as a whole was better. P2's strongest attribute was that kick ass ending. However, all of PREDATOR kicked ass.

Im a Terminator man through & through, T2 was great but Arnold is better bad.

As for Predator its one of the exceptions to the rule, I think Predator 2 is superior to the mindless Arnold original. Predator entertains but Predator 2 I think was far more inventive & although it slipped in parts was an overall more suspensful film that had more kick. Plus I cant stand the ending to the first one when everything within a 5 mile radius is burnt to a crisp except the Austrian Oak.

I like the first Terminator more than T2, I like Arnold as a bad guy and I couldn't stand Ed Furlong from T2. I enjoy the first Predator more than the second one, the first was just one bad ass mamma jamma, and was funnier.

In the case of Predator it is a no-brainer because the ORIGINAL is much better then the sequel.

But Terminator is a different story because the movies are a lot different. T2 is a big-budget special effect-athon with so much action your eyes are bugging out by the end. The Terminator was a darker, creepier action movie with Arnold playing one of the best villians of all-time. I liked T2 better at first because I only saw that one in the theater, but after seeing both on DVD I would say I like the original better.

I've seen all of T1, but only bits and pieces of T2 (I know, it's a crime, ain't it?), so I more inclined to lean towards T1 as my personal fav, but I'll see T2 before I finalize anything.

I liked both the Predator movies. P2 was enough fun for me, but let's face it people. P1 rocked the friggin house!

Both Terminator and Terminator two are about on the same level of greatness. Predator was awsome but I'd have to say that Predator 2 was a piece of crap.

Definately Terminator 1. It's darker, more compelling, original, scary, it just doesn't stop. By the time T2 came out, the originality was kinda gone, we already knew it was unstoppable, right? Still it was interesting to see how the characters evolved, and it was a very good sequal.

As for Predator, I only saw the first and it is a terrific movie, really awsome. I was genuinly impressed. By the time the second came out I was sure that it couldn't live up to the first part, so I never even watched it. Seems I didn't miss anything..

I must say that T2 is better than T1 because it showed Cameron's vison in a much better light. Character development is superb in it and the acting is once agian top notch. As far as visuals go it is unfair to say T2 is better because it FXs surpase the original. They ndo so only because technology advanced a great deal since the 80's and the film had a much bigger buget.
As far as Predator goes, it is far superior to predator 2. With the exception of Bill Paxton i couldn't care about the characters. Danny Glover is a good actor but he is no action hero by himself, its sad but true. We can hope for an AVP movie though.

I think the original Predator was definately better than it's sequal. Mostly because I was pissed off that they didn't bring Arnold back. What were they thinking?!
Between the Terminator movies, I would have to vote in favor of T2. It had better effects, (in my opinion) a better story, and we got to see Arnold kick some serious robotic ass!

I am with the majority here, everyone seems to see The Terminator and Terminator @: Judgment Day as farely equal, one being more darker, creepier film with Arnie as a kickass villain!! T2 is loved more because of the effects...

I also agree that Predator is far more superior to Predator 2, even though i kinda liked the second one too (should have had
Arnie in the second one, as part of the Gary Busey special unit team, helping out Glover, anyone whats lacking in the second one is the absence of Arnie!)

Only because I have, can, and will sit thru more viewings of PREDATOR than T2.

T2 kicks T1's ass all over the room. Let's break it down like this: If I'm watching T2, I'd probably rather be watching PREDATOR. If I can't watch either, I'd take either T1 or P2.

The merits of these flicks can be determined by their use of profanity.
T1 was great with the "F#*k you, A$$*&^#!"
T2 had lots of f-words and stuff like "dick-wad" (or was it "dick-weed"? or both?)
But PREDATOR had more fun with it...I don't think the "slack-jawwed fa&&@t" line is the least bit insulting or homophobic, but then, I'm no "slack-jawwed fa&&@t". The "big pu$$%" jokes were amusing. And Arnold calling the Predator "one ugly mother fu#*er" was superior to Danny Glover's "pu$$%-face" moment in P2.

That's another thing, I liked P2 okay, but one of these things doesn't belong:

Arnold, Arnold, Arnold, DANNY GLOVER?

Evidently, he wasn't getting too old for that sh#*.

Is there even a debate in T1 vs T2?
Let's look at this.
Ok T1 was the original and was good in its own right, it established the storyline but THAT IS IT.
T2 is superior in every respect.
Characters - No contest
A leaner meaner Sarah Connor
John Connor, the future world leader rides a dirt bike and steals cash from atm's.
The Good terminator, at the end of the movie, he was as human as any other person on this planet.

Plot
Superior chase sequences, changing ht e future, totally cool.

And let's not forget the BAD GUYS

The two bad guys are both terminators.
In T1 it is a T-800. This guy went around killing everyone within the range of his gun.

T2, the T-1000, the Ultimate villain, (my fav character)
T-1000 is way cooler than the T-800.
1) he is LIQUID METAL - totally cool
2) He killed Todd, this was a service to humanity.
3) although he doesn't say much, he has some of the best lines
"say...that's a nice bike"
(with a finger spike in Sarah's Arm)
"I know this hurts"

This guy is way cooler than the T-800 in T1.

I have to say Terminator nudges the original out by a nose, simply because of the T-1000 (greatest villain of all time, at least to me). Besides.....the Ultimate Edition DVD is the best freakin' DVD I've ever seen. Nothing quite like the sound of metal exoskeletons blasting everything to pieces in Dolby Digital.

Predator beats out part 2. Was just a much better movie.

T2 was a way lot better than the first even if really dig Arnold as the bad terminator. It has better special effects, better action scenes and really good chemistry between Swartz and Ed Furlong. And Robert Patrick is perfect cast in that one.

"PREDATOR 2" should have never seen the day. It sucks some serious ass. The first one is a classic. I saw it when I was young and was marke for life. Those dead bodys hanging by the feets blow big time.

Terminator was a lot darker and violent than Terminator 2. I can't really choose between these two films, because they were both excellent in there own way. I've doubts about a possible third installment. For me, the story ended with Terminator 2.
Predator was a lot better than the sequal, but Predator 2 was a good attempt!

Terminator beats its sequel in my opinion, it has a meaner edge, a stronger/simpler storyline and Arnie rules as the bad guy. I loved T2 but the whole "good Terminator" with the kid thang got a bit old. Robert Patrick rules though.

Predator no doubt...who the hell casted Danny Glover in the lead? He can't carry a movie and is without a doubt a second banana actor. The characters in the first are so much more interesting.

Hey Arrow, you're hard on Danny Glover. Give him a chance. He couldn't carry a movie like Predator but he was really good in Lethal Weapons. I don't think he is that bad.

Glover worked in Leathal Weapon cause he had Gibson to back him up. All I said in my post was that he's a second banana actor, meaning that he needs a bigger star to lean on and work off in order to be appealing. I have nothing against the Gloverster but imho the man doesn't have the charisma or presence to carry a film on his own. I think a stronger lead would have made Predator 2 better.

Predator is the best damn sci-fi horror there is and laughs at any challenge from Predator 2. The cast is better, the plot is better, the music is better, the effects kick ass and it has Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers and Predator 2 hasn't.

Terminator 1:A classic by all means it is required viewing in life like watching Star Wars and Arnie is a hell of a bad guy and loved the shootout with Biehn,one of the most influential movies of all time and maybe T3 and T4 will suck,but that doesn´t matter here.

Terminator 2:One of the best I remember when all of my family would just put it on and just sat back and enjoyed watch it back to back and let´s all hope for the best in the sequels

Predator:Another classic and loved the final battle and there´s nothing more to be said just entertaining and will always be.

Predator 2:The lack of Arnie ALMOST sinks the film,I mean it is hard to live up to the original predator and I loved the vunerable hero,Arnie just got up and went for more and here the guy just gets shot and almost dies,back to back to the original again´.

I can't believe how many people think that Predator 2 just sucked. I don't understand it, sure it didn't have the great acting but the content was much better. Arnold saying "you are one ugly mother fucker is funnier than Glover calling the alien a "pussy-face!". How is that? The Predator does look like a pussy to me, lol. And Shane Black's pussy jokes get blown away in the sequel. Sorry for the language but I have seen other posters use it in their post, so I guess its all right. I actually have both the Predator and Terminator on video, but to say Predator 2 sucks is simply ignorrant. I guess everyone has an opinion though, I thought the original Terminator was too slow but you have to admit the story was better. Anyway this is how I rate them (I like how the last poster did it):

Firstly, I am not among those who said PPREDATOR 2 sucks. I think it's okay, but certainly the least of the four in question. It's true that everyone has an opinion; most have a sense of humor. Both are extremely subjective. Personally, I just happen to find the humor in PREDATOR funnier and more abundant than in P2. That alone doesn't make PREDATOR my favorite, but it doesn't hurt. "Ain't got time to bleed..." is in that one, man! That's one of the most classic action-flick lines ever!

I don't have a problem if you don't like Predator 2, I just think it had good content. It explained more about than the Predator than in the original, that is a fact. Like I said, I have a sense of rumor too but I don't go around message boards saying _______ "sucks". That is acting too childish!
