I'm looking for some trustworthy companies that might rival Columbia House, as in they can get you 5 DVDs or more for a buck to get in.

As far as I know those whores (otherwise known as Columbia House) have the best deal going in that department. Now, though they are trying to sucker you into signing up so that you have to purchase 4 DVD's at their regular club price instead of 3 like last year. Sonsabitches!

I have.

I've done really well with Columbia House. I've been in and out of the club for 4 years now. I've got about 40 DVDs through them.

Here's the deal. You can get the first 7 up front for about $35-$40 or so with the shipping and the deal they give you on the first one. The problem after is that you have to drop $19.95 and up (plus shipping) on three more. I always here that it pisses poeple off that you can go get a new release at the store for $15.99, so Columbia House is ripping everyone off.

Here are some good rules with CH

1. Don't get the new releases - Go for the older DVDs you didn't get around to getting when they were first released. The ones that Best Buy now has for $19.99.

2. Know the prices. Don't get a DVD through CH that you can pick up for 9.99 at Walmart.

3. Don't stay in the club after you complete your requirements. They have improved their incentives, but not enough to stay in.

If you think a little before you order, you can do really well. Here is what I've got on my initial order this time around :

The Adventures of Robin Hood 2-Disc
Casablanca 2-Disc
Bridge on the River Kwai Limited Edition 2-Disc
The French Connection 2-Disc
Lawerance of Arabia - Limited Edition 2-Disc
Once Upon A Time In America 2-Disc
Treasure of the Sierra Madre 2-Disc
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Unforgiven 2-Disc

The only one I can find locally under $20.00 is Willy Wonka.

The way I got 9 DVDs is before you close your account, re-sign yourself up as "Sign up a friend and rec 2 for $.49 each" ($5.00 after shipping) deal. Works like a charm.

After it is all said and done, it averages out to about $12.50 per DVD.

Not bad at all. Sometimes you can do even better than that.

I don't mind Columbia House one bit...

I am going to do an order someday soon that is going to be 18 movies..

I figured out that I am going to pay a mere $11.34 per movie INCLUDING shipping with their current deal... Not too bad IMO...

Mines a little higher because I live in Indiana and have to pay 6% sales tax.:(
