I've always been afraid to look in that bin, since there's usually this one creep with a beard hovering over the bin constantly.
This is in Iowa, so by definition this guy's an Iowan creep. Everyone knows they're always trouble.

But now that I know Batman and Airplane! are in there, I might have to take my chances...

But you're in Nevada, so you can't be that creep...

Unless of course, all the $5 bins are tied into some universal nexus of ever-replenishing budget DVDs.

I'm certain this has to be Papajupe2k you are describing :D

Anyways the Walmarts around me must have gotten some super bad flicks, because I haven't seen half these movies in them.

I've been tempted to stick some really good movies in there just to see how excited idiots get when they unearth a supposed bargain.

Oh, how I love the Wal-Mart $5.88 (is it $5 now?) bin! I haven't checked up on it in a while, but over the last year, here are all the movies I've gotten from it:

AMC Monsterfest Collection 1: Cult Classics
Casualties of War
Creepshow
Freeway
Go
A Gun, a Car, a Blonde
Tigerland
True Stories

I thought there were more, but I guess not.

However, I will check it out this weekend

I already own it, but some of you may be interested to know that I saw a couple copies of the classic Easy Rider in the bin a couple days ago. So either someone stole my idea from above or it is actually only $5.50, which would be the greatest bargain in the history of DVD.

I saw it at Best Buy for 14.99 and was going to buy until I came across a 3-pack of Jack Nicholson movies for $33 which included Easy Rider, As Good As it Gets, and A Few Good Men.

Man, I never have anything good in my local Wal-Mart's bin. The best I found was "The Man With Two Brains", which was excellent. I mostly just have Ernest and Dolph Lundgren movies to choose from.

I checked it out this past weekend and found nothing worth buying. I was about to pickup AMC Monsterfest Cult Classics Vol. 2, but I passed. (I wanted to go for the 2 for 11 deal).

Anywho, I hope they update the thing soon with more good movies. You can usually find some hidden gems beneath those buried bins.

Wal-Mart is tearing me up. I cant go there without buying 4 or 5 dvds. I just picked up:

Universal Soldier
Universal Soldier The Return
Stealing Harvard
House on Haunted Hill (1999)

They added a bunch of new ones to the cheapo bin, and those were the best.

I also got Grind for 8.84. Not the cheapo bin, but still damn cheap.

My Wal-Mart also has a 7.50 bin with stuff in it like Multiplicity, Christine, Adaptation.....im cheap though, so im gonna wait until they knock those down to 5.50 and throw em in the cheap bin.

Saruman
05-14-2004, 12:10 PM
Christine for less than $10? MOTHER FUCKER! I paid $20 for it.

I think Canada has a more limited selection in the cheap bins. At least it's like that in Kingston.

Man, I have an addiction to $5 Dvds. I have no idea why, perhaps its the spontunaity of it, or the cheapness, or the hunt for that "non crap" item- or all three. Either way, it can be fun. Though you do get some weird stares from time to time( dig, curse to myself, dig, curse to myself[louder], etc.)

Here are some of the treasure and crap I have been lucky, or unlucky enough, to have stumbled upon:

AMC Monsterfest Collection 2: Cult Classics
Adventures of Ford Fairlane, The
American Werewolf in Paris, An
Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes
Arlington Road
Caddyshack 2
Celtic Pride
City Hall
Exorcist 3, The

Godzilla (1998)
Hitcher 2: I've Been Waiting, The
The Howling 3( No longer with us, but plan on a re-purchase one day)
Jaws: The Revenge
Kissing a Fool
Last Action Hero
Life Less Ordinary, A
Man with Two Brains, The

Best deal, for $4.99 (plus tax) I got FRAILTY.
I liked it.

Plus, I got INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE and THE LAST SAMURAI for $9.99. Yes, 2 for $9.99. It wasn't supposed to be like that though. They were packaged together, and they had a new bar code on it, but the lady at the desk scanned the old bar code, so I got them both for the price of one. I thought those were all very good deals.
