Based on the new trailer--they might as well greenlight the next three movies NOW.

Everything about Spidey 2 has been intensified by a factor of TEN at least.

OUtside of the Lord of the Rings---I can think of few films with franchise possibilities that have been executed as well as TWO seems to be---

Harry Potter is on par as far as continuing to get better with every film--or at least staying true and as fantastic as the material. The word on Azkaban is about as it is on SPIDERMAN 2.

It's only two days--but I'll take anything if it means I get to see this BADASS movie sooner.

YEAH SONY/MARVEL---show that shit!!!!!

If she is only going to be in it till part 3. Gwen shall be ours.

(starts foaming at the mouth)

This entire series is fantastic. I can not wait for every single one of them.

This would be pretty fucking awesome. We definitely need a steady series of a marvel character coming out. I used to have hopes for a series of X-men movies, but now it looks like they'll squeeze out X-3 and that'll be it. A new spidey movie every few years will by great. (And make Marvel a fortune)

As for Dunst... Meh. After three movies of her, I'll definitely be ready for a change.

If Sam Raimi's at the helm why stop at 6.

Just keep Joel Schumacher & Mark Steven Johnson away from the franchise.

I'm usually optimistic when it comes to this kind of news...

There's a few things that could really turn me off from this movie, and they are:

1. Tobey Maguire stops playing Spiderman.

Wasn't there a time somewhere between this new movie and Seabiscuit where Tobey almost didn't sign on?

2. Sam Raimi stops directing.

I really can't think of a franchise with more than 3 movies where the director stayed on the project. But who knows. Sam Raimi loves his Spiderman - he says so himself.

3. The villains.

Green Goblin was AWESOME and Doc Oc looks to be superb! But...how many other characters in the Spiderman universe are that memorable or...cool for that matter with interesting backstories besides the stated or Carnage and Venom? Electro? Hydro? The Rhino? I don't know. Do they have to have a new supervillain every movie like every other superhero franchise? It'd be nice if they explored new grounds.

I just hope this doesn't turn out like the Superman series, or the Batman series or...heaven forbid...The Crow series!

Can we say overly optimistic!

The way Hollywood works they many never get to 3 with people demanding more money or doing other projects.

Wasn't it iffy for Toby even to do 2 because of his back.

I can't imagine them being able to secure him this early for 4 more flicks.

And I thought that the Green Goblin was a jumped up Power Ranger.

I admit that Ock looks killer. And I am all for more flicks if they can improve on the Gumby CGI and make it look better.

But this isn't like LOTR Or Star Wars were they know they need three flicks.

This could end at any time, although that is rather unlikley as long as they make money, hell there may be 100 if they make enough dough.

Out..........................

Conversely, they may not make it to 6 if the franchise runs out of steam.

Don't know , could shoot it's sticky load with part 2 , the Spidey universe jus doesn't seem to have as much narrative complexity as LOTR does . A young , crimefighting young dude with girl troubles doesn't exactly lend itself to sustained interest , for me at least , and new villains won't exactly keep my interest , it will all come down to the final showdown and some PS2 visuals anyway .

Yeah , the Green Goblin was a joke in part 1 , almost killed whatever enjoyment i got from the original , and yes , this new one has a way better villian ( even though i hate the guy playing him ) and the film seems like a vast improvement , but 6 films , come on now , i thought even HP ran out of steam half way through the Chamber of Secrets . I say , three would get the point across , and have the final battle with Hobgoblin teamed up with Carnage or a couple of others . And bring in another Superhero to help the ol' webslinger out ,. That's were it's heading anyway , Osbourne has to get his revenge on Spidey , that's how the third , and final film should resolve the series . Dunst goes to H wood and works as a stripper in a dive bar ( remember she said in the first film she wanted to be a dancer ) , Tobey hooks up with Gwen and gets hitched , Franco becomes the Hobgoblin and puts a monkey wrench in their plans , they do battle , Spidey wins , and they live happily ever after . Through in 2 more villians , and maybe Batman , Supe or some other comic book hero to help out and there you have it , the end of the series , like an all out monsters attack deal .

And , i don't want to see another guy play Spidey , yeah , i admit , Tobey is the one , i hate when the continuity is destroyed with a new lead like in the Batman films .

I just pray they don't create cheesy side characters like the Black Cat. (Catwomen and Elecktra anyone? Those will be trainwrecks for sure)
