NUDE EXTRAS REQUIRED FOR DEPP'S LATEST FILM


Extras eager to get close to Hollywood heart-throb Johnny Depp are being warned they must be prepared to go naked to appear in his new movie.

The Oscar-nominated actor -- who is playing Earl of Rochester, a debauched 17th century poet and confidant of King Charles II -- is appearing in the erotic period piece "The Libertine" -- where bold extras will be asked to appear naked.

Nina Carter, who heads casting agency Nina's People, says, "We are looking for a wide range of extras, some of whom will have to appear naked in the film.

"There will be full and part nudity parts required."

However, some part-time actors will be allowed to stay clothed.

Carter adds, "We are also looking for people to play in crowd scenes with their clothes on. It is a controversial film and will contain a fair amount of nudity.

"We are not necessarily looking for young people, in fact the older the better for some scenes."


this casting call sounds like for BOTH...hmmmm')

Seriously, it seems to me that lots of movies have extras who are naked (Eyes Wide Shut, what?)

However, the words "Johnny Depp" and "erotic period piece" assure myself in the theater on opening day.

Any guesses on what this little erotic adventure will be rated? I already know I want to see the unedited version on DVD!

The only other movie that I can think of that is an erotic period piece I can think of was Caligula, and that basically just ended up becoming a big budgeted porn movie. I hope that this one has a decent story to go with it.

Did they mention if Depp is getting naked as well?

A few years ago, John Malkovich played this role on stage, in Chicago. It was first staged in London. The play is reported to be incredible...Malkovich wanted to make a film, but at this point, felt he was too old for the part. He's been trying to get this to film for about 7 or 8 years. Malkovich is now playing the King Charles role, with Johnny as Rochester. I'm sure that it will be edited to recieve an R rating. I know the papers have picked up on the "300 naked extras," maybe the producers wanted them to, to bring attention to the production, but it won't pass certain limits. It is a fascinating story, and with the talent involved, it has the potential to be excellent. Samantha Morton is also starring.
