I loved The Patriot...but hands down Braveheart is Mel Gibson's best...also I'll mention Gallipoli as a great Mel Gibson film.

I don't really watch Gibson's movies, I do not hate him, I just don't think his movies are that good.
My favorite Gibson would be "Chicken Run".

I just watched Braveheart again (for about the millionth time) it's easily his best. And please can we stop comparing the Patriot to this movie? Patriot was enjoyable in a Saturday Afternoon sort of way, but by no means a good film.

"Braveheart;" that movie really kicks ass. I'm with Buddha, "The Patriot" was nowhere near as good.

Braveheart. The Patriot is one of the most ridiculous, overdone movies ever.

Doesnt anyone remember Mel in that great Peter Weir movie THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY? That was a great film and one of his best performances. He was also really great in THE RIVER w/ Sissy Spacek. I think THE YEAR...is also my favorite of his movies.

Gibson is one of my all time favorites, so picking one is tough. But I would have to go with Braveheart as my favorite. Though, the Lethal Weapon films and Payback are AMAZING. But you could really run down the list with this guy in my opinion, he just does great films.
Some other favorites:
Mad Max (and Road Warrior, they're very simalar)
Conspiracy Theory
Gallipoli
We Were Soldiers
Unicron

Apart from Mad Max 2 I like Gibson in Payback.
The character he plays is a mule headed heel so he didn't need to do too much acting for that part. ;)

Lethal Weapon 4 (I don't care what you say! I liked it!)
