Wow - not what I was expecting at all.
Doesn't mean I don't like it - it'll just take some getting used to. I'd like to see it in action as well.
They really are going for a total reinvention of the entire Batman universe really aren't they??

WOW, That really sucks....So far Tim Burton is whooping Chris Nolans boot-ay
And actually the Batmobiles in Batman 3 and 4 were way better than this junker I'm seeing.
Can't really see the regular picture of it though...So maybe it's better than I think it is.

I think it's looking so rough because the story is from how Batman started..
But add a bit fire and cool lights and effects in the movie, i think the car will look good.
So.. when are the pics of Bale in suit online!?!?!?:D

I am thinking that this is one of the "Tricks" the batmobile does. If we saw a picture of the split in half batmobile from returns then we would be in disgust also. I think those tires roll in an dhide inside the chassy until they extend out for offroad issues. If you look at it the frame itself fuckin owns! But the tires are ridiculous!
And dont forget, they tricked by keeping the intimidation title after they had decided begins was going to tbe the actual title. Hopefully, this is just another trick.

It looks ok, as a rough first version for the batmobile, it doesnt look finished, and thats probably the point of it, the back looks cool but im not sure about the front.
It depends how long the batmobile is gonna feature in the film, we may only see it for a few minutes, then in the next film it will be modified to become the final batmobile.

BTW its not called the batmobile, its called the Tumbler. And it is supposed to be aq military design, so i guess that fits.
Hopefully, during the majority of its screentime, the tires collapse in on the inside of the body, hiding those damn awful things. And showing the damn cool exterior.

It's meant to be a little more rough, tough, military-like and realistic. Kind of like in the YEAR ONE, YEAR TWO and DARK KNIGHT RETURNS comic books.
I like it a lot. Sure, it's not the fancy Batmobile -- but originally, Bats didn't cruise around in his Batmobile. He'd only take it out when he needed heavy weaponry...and this is what this Tumbler looks and feels like.
I say kudos. Risque choice...but it's gonna work.

at first, i admidt i was like "wtf?" but now that its sunk in it makes somewhat more sense. yea, i'll miss the other batmobile, (hopefully this does in some way turn into a cool looking car.) but i'd love to see this thing do some destruction! Go on top of cars, break through walls, run bad guys over. That'd be tizit!

I'm still stuck on Tim Burton's Batmobile, which is, in my opinion, one of the better versions of the Batmobile out there (and is miles above the shit that the later films had).
While I think Tim Burton's version of the Bat-Mobile is incredible, people are not looking at this new design in its context.
I was very surprised when I first looked at it just moments ago, but it's sinking in, and the whole military angle of it makes perfect sense. It is a practical vehicle, and something that Batman can really use as a piece of equipment.
Burton's version was sleek and sophisticated, this version is the polar opposite, and I'm frankly very interested by it.
(If the transport looks this different, I wonder what surprises are in store for the suit).

Good point - in fact the more I tlook at it, the more I like it - and why?
because at last we have a vehicle that fits the storyline properly.
The Batmobile came from a design Wayne Enterprises did for the the Military, and that looks like it is, almost stealth style actually.
Im sold.

I have nothing against this because Batman does have like a gazillion different vehicles that all look very different. I really do like it though, not as the main Batmobile but as a beginning kind of military vehicle that hasn’t been modified by Batman.

Wow, cool, we got sort of a monster truck type of thing going on. But at the same time not....its very different, but also very cool. Im actually welcoming anything thats different when it comes to this series.

It's weird, but I like it. It fits with the story as a "prototype" Batmobile. At least is better than the neon Batmobile from Batman & Robin.

I hate it. I wouldn't mind it so much if the batmoble's back tires were smaller. But hey if it helps the storyline and everything, I can try and get use to it.

Looks like something out of an Alien movie. In this case, that's bad. Bring back the original with the turbine in front and the pop-up machine guns.

I'm actually half and half on this, yes its not what I was expecting at all when I first glanced at it but now once I think about it and reading all the other opinions on this matter, I think it works better as a prototype batmoblie considering its meant to be the beginning of the Batman story (thus the title: Batman Begins - kickass title by the way).

Well, they never call it "The Batmobile" in the script ... they call it The Tumbler, and this thing kicks all kinds of ass .. just wait.

Man , this is getting worse and worse , these people are on Crack , what the freak is that thing , what . Is this the transformers or something or Voltron ,.
The closer the Bat vehicle is to an actual car the coller it is . How do you even jump in this thing like Keaton did in Batman .
This looks comedic , and they blasted Shumacker for his version , this one is even sillier looking , it's like a mini humvee or something .
Hey , let's jump in the Tumbler , i'm in stitches .

hmmmmm, not at all what i was expecting, its a lot better than the flimsy plastic pile of shit in 3-4
since this is about the beginning of Batman, it makes more sense, hed want to intimidate any villains and it does look pretty kool

I will say as much as I love Batman I am not up to speed on the origins as much as I would like to be.
If he originally made the Batmobile aka The Tumbler out of a military vehicle this seems to fit perfectly.
But I must admit I cannot see it streaking thru the streets as we saw in Batman.
But on the other hand if he is only using it when he needs his big guns so to speak then I am down with the design.
I also think we may be seeing only part of the design. If you look at the front it seems as if their is part missing.
The wheel base in the front as well as the back looks to short to be practical. Leading me to agree that this may be the inner core of a larger vehicle.
And when he needs to go off road he jetisons the rest and the wheels will then extend out to a more normal position.
But hey we shall simply have to wait and see.
I like it much better than the stupid ones with 12 foot high fins! that was crap!
So far it looks as if BB is going to be good.

Batman only uses The Tumbler like two times in the whole script .. it's not like the Burton's films were Batman just drives around all night.

Something that worries me. I read somewhere that this has forward mounted machine guns. Um...doesn't that kinda screw up the whole mythos. Batman doesn't under any circumstances resort to using guns because that's the very weapon that was used to kill his parents. I know i'm probably stating the obvious here but i'm right aren't I.

He used machine guns in The Dark Knight Returns, which at first I was like WTF when he rolled up in that mammoth Batmobile and started blasting the hell out of people but then he quickly said “Rubber bullets… Honest.” :D
Maybe it’s the same deal here.

Yeah...I know. That's what I hope. The Batplane had actual machine guns and missile launchers in the first Burton movie. My heart sank and didn't really come back up for air.

It really suits the way they are going, I think. I mean, this is going back to the Dark Knight's roots, the beginning. The tires are a tad too big for my taste, but that's all I have to complain about.

the footage is nice
however the batmobile itself if pretty disapointing, I would imagine it like in the New Batman Adventures.
but if they decided to make it some kind of tank it's for some precis scenes, probably big crashes and.. we'll see

I have no prob with it after seeing it in limited and brief action . The more i see of this film , the better it gets . I'll file that footage under unofficial teaser , and those guys taping it seemed like they were having a total blast . I can relate to their giddiness , cause i'm getting that feeling too .
Put that spy footage on the dvd :) .

After seeing the footage, I'm beginning to really dig it. Batman used a vehicle just like it in DKR, against the Mutants, so I'm not too bothered. Beginning to look more optimistic
First when I saw this "Tumbler" I told myself that I could forget having that Batman feeling during this movie, but now I'm starting to really like it.
And since I'm not a Batman comic fan (More of a Spider-Man comic nerd, but that's another story), so when I heard who the villain was I had no idea what to think. Then I heard Watanabe was going to play the character (I'm not going to fuck up trying to spell that name) , I became optimistic...But then I saw a picture of Watanabe being the guy and he looked like something out of a bad martial arts movie.
But yeah that Tumbler is starting to look pretty damn cool....
I really don't think much of this vehicle the way I did while watching Burton's Batmobile rip up the pavement. However, I can see how this is an evolving first design by Wayne Enterprises, and how Bruce has to continue to determine his needs as he does his job. I'll get used to it, I'm sure.
