Whitney Houston need not be alone as she struggles to face her drug demons - Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson is offering empathy and support. As the "So Emotional" singer continues to fight a "prescription drug" addiction problem - the Pulp Fiction star, 55, has vowed to be there for the troubled star if she wants to speak to him. The Oscar-nominated actor successfully fought his own crack habit - before finding fame in a string of films including Jackie Brown, Unbreakable and Shaft. Jackson says, "When, and if, she ever wants to reach out to someone, I'd be willing to sit down and talk to her and give her a hand if she wanted one."

I dont get it ? Whats so funny about it? And I thought I heard you say on this forum before that you yourself battled and overcame drug addictions.... is taking really cheap shots at people with similar problems part of your 12 step recovery program? Youve just shed a whole new light on yourself. Sam is a righteous man..... a true humanist.

I don't think he's laughing at the fact that she has a drug addiction problem. But instead, he's laughing at the euphemism used for her problems just because she's a big-shot celebrity. Here's a transcript from a Bill Maher interview on CNN when he was asked about Rush Limbaugh's "medication addiction". I think this explains things better.



MAHER: [Limbaugh] is going to have to come clean. He's going to have to get up there and say, which he has not so far, that he is no better or different than a crack addict. It is the same thing. He calls it medication. Well, you know, pal? We all have our medication. ... is just to say -- exactly. I am no different and no better than a crack addict. I spend all my time thinking about it. I lied and corrupted my life to get it. And I deserve the same thing a crack addict gets, compassion.

It's nice I guess except that it kind of implies that no one else has been trying to help- I'm sure that her family and friends have been trying to help her for years.

I just read yesterday that Cissy Houston (Whitney's mother) was hosting aprayer vigil for Whitney casue nothing else has worked. It was going to be on April 5. Was that yesterday? Anyway, her family has been trying to help her without success.
