I was wondering about this. He was really good in Blade Runner and The Hitcher.

I also saw him in a made for cable movie called Omega Doom. Can't beilieve he sunk that low. It was made in 1995. What happen to him? Any info would be nice.

I think he mainly faded into obscurity, although I heard he has a small role in the next Batman movie

That's cool. At least he is still doing something.

Aside from the new BATMAN flick, Hauer put in a nice supporting performance as a hitman in CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND. If you haven't seen it, the film's worth checking out, and Hauer's role is memorable, if fairly brief.

He also has a role in the upcoming Salem's Lot tv movie.

I'm also a big fan. Love him in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie and in Wanted: Dead or Alive.

Blood of Heroes was also pretty good.

I miss Rutger Hauer. When I break into hollywood, I'm pulling a Tarantino and ressurecting his career.

Don't know about Smallville (I don't watch that show) but he was on an episode of Alias last season. Infact it was the Superbowl episode and he was great!

I wish for the day of his return. I've always felt he was very unappericated.

I await the day that Hauer makes a Travolta-esque return. It'll be deserved. It's a shame that he's not working so consistently now; I find him to be one of the most rivetting actors around.

And yes, he does deserve better than appearances in Kylie Minogue videos, although he did up the cool factor considerably.

Rutger will always be the badass from the classic Blind Fury....ahh...childhood memories.

Hauer's role in the tv Miniseries Salems Lot will be that of lead vampire Kurt Barlow. The stills from the film make him look like Barlow from the Stephen King novel as well. I'm very excited to see how this turns out. Great topic, BTW. Hauer kicks ass.

I've been anticipating that, too. Do you know the air date?

I read Salem's Lot and it was very scary. I guess the tv movie they originally made of this was quite bad.Hope this one is good. The Shining TV movie wasn't too bad.

Rutger is excellent; The Hitcher is highly underrated. Here's hoping he actually gets more good movies thrown his way....yeah, I know, but one can hope.

My favorite Rutger Hauer movies are Night Hawks (he's so evil in that one) The Osterman Weekend and Ladyhawk he really should've been one of the more important actors of the '80's.

I loved Rutger Hauer in Blind Fury and Night Hawks. The man can play such intimidating characters, be they good or evil. Hope he can become more of a household name in the future.

BTW He was also good as The Huntsman in 10th Kingdom.

My favorite Rutget Hauer scene was the last one in Blade Runner. The way he delivered it , the emotion and crisma was amazing. Probably one of the coolest scenes I've ever seen in a movie.

I can't believe I forgot that movie. You're right, that scene was powerful. You couldn't help but sympathize with his character.

A lot of people on this board forget Blade Runner. Hell most of them think it sucks. I don't know why really. I will say though to really like the movie you need to see the original first before seing the directors cut.

Here's the quote from that scene.
*Spoiler if you haven't seen the movie.*

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams ... glitter in the dark near Tanhauser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost ... in time, like tears ... in rain. Time ... to die."

Rutger was the MAN! When I read that he's playing Barlow in the 'Salem's Lot mini series my interest went through the roof. I really hope he comes back STRONG! He has such a quiet intensity...

Not very many people have that. That's where Hauer suceeds.

Turns out Rutget Hauer plays Dracula in "Dracula 3: Legacy". Which The Arror just recently reviewed. This what he said about Rutger's performance.

Rutger Hauer (Dracula) wasn’t in the film much, but possessed the scenery when he popped up. Nice to see the Hauer man again! Where you been dude...still at the pub?

Review is right here. (http://www.joblo.com/arrow/dracula3.htm)

I'm glad to see him in a movie again. Going to defentley see this.

Remember, he's the one Anne Rice had in mind to play Lestat originally. If only.....
Flesh and Blood, one of my favorite movies with him.

Absolutely. Hauer is the man, a great actor and a really powerful stare. My God, I think he is one of the only actors I would give a Acadamy Award to for a role where he wouldn't have to say a thing...

He was great in Confessions in a Dangerous Mind, i loved seeing him again. Lets hope he will steal some scenes in Batman Begins.

Did you know he's color blind??? Kinda fits his character in Blade Runner & The Hitcher...

Yeah the way I remember it didn't Anne Rice have Rutger in mind as Lestat while she was writing the original novel. If the movie was made a decade earlier it probably would have been made with him.

And good call on Flesh & Blood....that is a vastly underrated movie. Actually all of the Rutger Hauer movies he did with director Paul Verhoeven are worth checking out. Especially Soldier of Orange, in my opinion perhaps the greatest WWII themed movie ever.
