I'm 99.9% that we won't know any of this anytime this year or even next year. If history repeats itself we have a LOOOONG wait ahead of us.

* Harry Potter and the End of Hogwarts
* June 2005
* Supposedly the cover will feature the obligatory close-up of Harry, on a background of a dark, barren landscape - it will have lots of blacks and shadows and have very little color.
* In the new year of Hogwarts, several of the teachers are turning up dead, as well as some students and various other characters. This, as well as the fact that many parents are keeping their kids home from fear of them being attacked by Voldemort, marks the possible coming of the End of Hogwarts. Yes, this is the darkest one yet and will have several surprise deaths. BUT it is rumored that the character that "died" in Book 5 is not really dead and will make a return. More secrets are uncovered and questions answered, yet there will still be much more to be revealed in the final book.

The only thing that i can remember that is a fact for sure is that JK said she was 99% sure, though she wouldn't bet her childrens' lives on it, that book 6 would be shorter than 5...there are more facts and rumors put to rest at www.mugglenet.com ...

Yeah, we know abso-zuba-lootely nothing about Book 6, other than the title will be "Harry Potter and the (something) " and it's "flowing like a mountain stream." Oh, and there'll be a new Minister of Magic (3/06 webchat). But that's it. No synopsis, no release date. Sorry.
Anyone willing to make bets on when the release date'll end up being? I say July 15th, 2006.

Hmmmm.... I hadn't heard about the new Minister of Magic. Interesting.
I hope the book comes out next summer. If it is another three year wait I'll be extremely disappointed.

(HOPEFUL SPOILERS FOR FUTURE BOOKS MAYBE)
The general reasoning behind who the new Minister of Magic is that it will be Ron's dad, Arthur Weasely. The reason is because it was one of Ron's off-hand predictions in the books, like that he would win the Qudditch Cup and become a prefect in previous books. Ex: This has as much a chance of happening as dad does becoming the Minister of Magic. Predictions like that.

yes and i must say it's a brilliant move by rowling if she does that...putting ron's dad in head of office will not only make muggle relations better, it'll put a heavier load on the dark arts and wipe the grin off old lucius's stupid face...and yes rowling has been known to make moves like that before, relying on off hand stuff her characters have said as clues to future happenings in the books.

The title is "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince," and neither Harry or Voldemort is the HBP.
