From starting out as a wild and crazy guy on stage, Steve Martin has made some really good movies. Two of my favorites are "Roxanne" and "L.A. Story", which he also wrote (well, he adapted Roxanne). Anyone else like his movies and have a favorite?

I just can`t stand this man, he`s such a bad comic actor! He was awful at this year`s Academy awards.

I think he did a good job at the Academy Awards. As good as Billy Cristal, anyway. Well...I'd say SGT.BILKO and BOWFINGER. Haven't seen THE JERK.

Steve Martin is a comic genius. He's at his best in THE JERK. But I was completely thrilled at his totally serious turn in THE SPANISH PRISONER. Rebecca Pidgeon was great in that flick too!

siren, agree with you about rebecca p.

she has this fantastic way of talking; i liked the way she transposed words in a sentence "just shows to go you..." and i like the way she smiles at campbell scott at the end.

i'm a big fan of steve martin; i love all of his movies; i think my faves are:

the man with two brains
all of me
the jerk
la story
bowfinger

Haven't seen too many of his, cept father of the bride. I didn't dig Bowfinger too much though. I'll have to re-watch it though.

Steve Martin was awesome at the Oscars. He was funny as hell. He actually made the shitty award show decent. He is a comic genius.

You guys have named all the good ones except one that apparently nobody in the world has seen. Even you "movie buffs".

It's called A Simple Twist of Fate, and also stars Gabriel Byrne, and the ugly Baldwin Brother. Masterful.

This thread was started before Whoopi hosted the Oscars. In fact, it's over a year old. Wow, the memories...
