From IMDb:
Only days after James Bond star Pierce Brosnan revealed that writers have been stymied in their efforts to come up with a script for a new 007 thriller and suggested that they return to a more character-driven plot like the one in the original Casino Royale novel, Quentin Tarantino has indicated that he would like to remake Casino Royale -- with Brosnan in the starring role. In an interview with the online Sci-Fi Wire, Tarantino indicated that he had had a positive meeting with Brosnan about his proposal but that he had only a "thin chance" that MGM and the Bond film producers would go for it. "I don't see that they have anything to lose at all," Tarantino said. "They've got this gigantic franchise, they can't do anything wrong with it. Pierce Brosnan's only going to do one more movie for them, if that, so ... go my way and do it a little differently. I won't do anything that will ruin the series." (The 1967 film version of Casino Royale was a virtual spoof of Bond movies, featuring a number of actors, including David Niven and Peter Sellers, playing Bond in multiple "disguises.")

Do it, MGM! It's your best hope to save the franchise! QT is a genuine film fan, he can make the next Bond movie as good as the originals.

I always thought a straightforward adaptation of "Casino Royale" might result in the first really, really cool Bond flick since DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. QT sounds like just the man to pull it off. Godspeed, Quent.

Bond: Mmmm! This is some serious gourmet shit! Usually, me and Felix would be happy with some freeze-dried Taster's Choice, but he springs this serious GOURMET shit on us! What flavor is this?
Q: Knock it off, James.
Bond: What?
Q: I don't need you to tell me how fucking good my coffee is, alright? I'm the one who buys it. I know how good it is. When M goes out shopping she buys SHIT. Me, I buy the expensive gourmet coffee because when I drink it I like to taste it. But you know what's on my mind right now? It AIN'T the expensive coffee in my kitchen, it's the dead nigger you have laying in my garage.
Bond: Q, let me explain...
Q: No, let me ask you a question. When you came barrelling in here did you see a sign out front of my house that said Dead Nigger Storage?
Bond: Q...
Q: Answer the question! Did you see a sign out front that said Dead Nigger Storage?
Bond: No.
Q: And you know WHY you didn't see it?
Bond: Why?
Q: 'Cause it ain't there, 'cause storing dead niggers ain't my fucking business, that's why!
:P
I think Tarantino + Bond = A match made in heaven. It'd be the perfect 007 adventure.
Bond: We're gonna sit here and be three mother fucking Fonzies! And what is Fonzie, Monneypenny?!
Moneypenny: Um...he's cool.
Bond: Correctamundo!
Bond: I don't know why I'm in the backseat cleaning this guys brains off my Jag, Q. You're the motherfucker that should be on brain detail!
Bond: You feel that Jaws?? That's PRIDE, fucking with you!
:D
Next flick: KILL BOND, VOL 1??

The first PG-13 flick for Tarantino. I'd see it.

I wouldn't.
An adaptation of CASINO ROYALE is a terrific idea. Having Tarantino to write and direct it isn't. When QT says he wants to "go [his] way and do it a little differently", that means he's gonna make James Bond HIS way. That means like others have depicted above (even though they're exaggerating, I'm afraid it might not be that far from the truth).
Let's be honest. Tarantino is good, but every damn one of his movies's been the same -- fucked-up chronology, basic plot a bit twisted, nasty violence, a lot of curse words, oddly cool conversations about what first seems like nothing, and tons of hommages made to movies from the 50s, 60s, 70s. And most of that does not fit with a Bond movie. For me, until QT's proven he can do something else, then I'd just ask him to keep shooting movies starring Uma Thurman and Michael Madsen and just stay the fuck away from this franchise.

Hear, hear! I can't help but quote you again, James. I don't even like Bond, but I could imagine what the combination of Tarantino and a long-running franchise would end up like. Not a fresh spin or anything, just more of the same quirks which are becoming stale. But his fanboys will praise it anyway.

In a Tarantino Bond movie, the opening scene would hhave James Bond finding out he has an STD

This could be something quite wonderful. QT's talents combined with the Bondology...

Just imagine:
Bond (on his stomach and chained up): Do you expect me to talk?
Bond Villain: No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.
(to henchman)
Bring in the Gimp.

Could be the best Bond movie ever! He is right about one thing, they have NOTHING to lose. If one Bond film is bad the next one always makes up for it.

If QT made this it could be the best Bond movie ever, not to mention action packed and more quality story telling then the last ones, i hope he dcirects this so very much because if he does this movie will be godly in turn!

I wouldn't be against it if I knew he's gonna drop some of the QTness, but I'm pretty sure it would turn out like all of his other films. Which wouldn't mean that it would be a bad film but just too non-bondish.

QT could probably make a great Bond film, being the big movie nut he is, but I find it almost odd to read this. I never really pictured QT doing a Bond movie. Hrm, a better opinion later.

Tarantino has proven himself time and again. Most importantly, he has proven himself with an adapted screenplay that holds true to its material (Jackie Brown) and to action (Kill Bill - note - without computer effects!). He has nailed the two most important aspects to secure a healthy chapter in the Bond Franchise, thus, he has earned my blessing.
