Opposition from a firefighters union has shut down production of 3000
Degrees!
Preproduction on the planned true life firefighting drama has come to
a stop and the film looks unlikely to ever be made.
3000 Degrees recounts the horrific December 3, 1999 warehouse fire in
Worcester, Massachusetts that claimed the lives of six firefighters.
At least four of the six families involved have objected to the
production, and the town's firefighters lined up behind them forcing
the movie to halt.
Warner Bros said "The process of making a film of this size requires
the support of firefighting organizations. Due to circumstances
beyond our control, we no longer have such support. We have therefore
decided not to move ahead with this project at this time."
Production was to have begun next month with Ed Harris and Woody
Harrelson starring under the direction of Scotish director Danny
Boyle (Trainspotting/28 Days Later).
