John Stamos, Wife Rebecca Romijn Separate
2 hours, 52 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES - Married life is over for "Full House" actor John Stamos (news) and "X-Men" actress Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (news), the former Victoria's Secret model. The couple has separated after five years of marriage, publicist Lewis Kay said Monday.

"The split is amicable and they have asked that the media please respect their privacy regarding this situation during this difficult time," Kay said.

The spokesman said the couple had no further comment.

Stamos, 40, and Romijn, 31, met in 1994 at a Victoria's Secret fashion show and began dating two months later. They married in September 1998.

The actress appeared in "X-Men," "X2: X-Men United," "Femme Fatale (news - web sites)" and "Rollerball" and she appears in the upcoming films "The Punisher" and "Godsend."

Stamos, best-known for his role as Jesse in "Full House" from 1987 to 1995, played John Sears in last year's cable TV movie "The Reagans." In recent years, he's played on the Broadway stage.

In October, Stamos replaced Antonio Banderas (news) as the film director obsessed with women in the Tony Award-winning revival of "Nine" at New York's Eugene O'Neill Theatre.

He had also replaced Matthew Broderick (news) in the revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and starred as the master of ceremonies in the long-running Roundabout Theatre Company production of "Cabaret" at Studio 54.

I hope that Conan mentions this on his show, I'd love to see his reaction.

But then again, I expect that Rebecca is probably going to be on his show this week for The Punisher, so he won't want to say anything to upset her, especially when she wants the media to be quiet.

But, why the hell does this happen the week that The Punisher opens?

It just seems too perfect a time to split.

Where the hell did this split come from?

According to the tabloid shows, John wanted family, but Rebecca wanted to wait a while longer. Her career is in full swing, so she didn't want to start a family yet.

I saw this coming...bitches always leave their men when it's convient...paging J.Ho...

Anyway, she's been hanging out with a lot of other guys, so I expected this...

Way to jump to conclusions without knowing ANY details

Personally, I always found them a very obnoxious couple. I saw this special on MTV once about midgets and there was one midget girl in her early 20s who they were trying to hire to strip at their house for a party. She refused, of course. But that always struck me as a particularly strange request.

In any case, bummer...another one bites the dust.

Frankly, I'm not surprised. When the actress starts becoming famous and the husband's still struggling, it normally leads to divorce. Just look at Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lopez, and some other examples I'm trying to think of (I'm having an off day)

One glass of Chardonnay down the hatch...JUST THE ONE GUV'NOR. I'm sober as a nun, so why does this post make my brain feel squishy?

I kinda liked these two. Wife's hot, successful, husband's career is down the drain but still they manage. Bummer.

Ah, well. Rebecca's one of the most gorgeous women on Earth, she's now single, I can start fantasizing about meeting her on the street and having her fall in love with me and fucking her dry again. Hurray.

I'm not really jumping to conclusions, I've noticed certain things about Hollywood couples. I remember reading about her going out alone without him and being with another man in public places. You're thinking so what, but I remember watching tv sometime a while back and people were noticing Jennifer and Ben hanging off each other. People were nudging each other and winking, but I saw it coming. Just like this.

I'm not accusing anyone, but I'm not feeling sorry or broken up. Maybe you thought I was being hostile because of my reckless use of the word "bitch" and for that I must apologize.

Like the old song says "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life/ never make a pretty woman your wife/ if you want my personal point of view/ get an ugly girl to marry you!" :D

Oh trust me, I'm not feeling bruised and battered over the whole split either. I just think there was far too little information provided to assume that it was her fault or that she was dropping him out of "convenience".

S'all good.

As much as this split up gives life to another batch of my fantasies, it is kind of depressing.

Randomly, do you guys think she'll start going as just "Rebecca Romijn?" Really kills the flow of her name, I think. Still, I guess my opinion about the flow of her name matters alot less to her than the idea of keeping the name of a guy she just dumped.

Yesterday in USA Today they said she plans on keeping her name the same for now. I'd be surprised if she changes it, because like you said it has a nice ring to it.

That name will be gone in no time- she's just feeling sad right now. I don't get how two people can find each other, fall in love and let it fall apart over a dumb career. You might not get a second chance at happiness in love- that is the sickness of the Hollywood biz. These two have been together for ten years and are parting as good friends? Seems pretty weak. Don't get it. Why do these people take vows anyway??????

You're right, it's pretty sad how people don't take marriage as serious as they used to 50-100 years ago. But it's not just the entertainment business...across the country 50% of marriages now fail, it's a real shame.

YOu know I never really saw the marriage lasting a long time. Espec, since she's more famous. Too bad though...

Moviefan- you are right- it's not just Hollywood people. I think the problem with regular people is that they get married too fast and they end up settling for someone who they think is OK. DAting is the time to really screen and be very judgemental.
I don't get the Hollywood people- why do they get married anyway- they are so transient. Look at Uma Thurman and her husband - he said he would stay home and watch the kids while she made movies and she would stay home while he made movies- that's a marriage? Why don't they take the kids along and all go together? It's not like they can't afford a teacher for the kids.

DR Beauty- but don't count Stamos out yet- he is still relatively young and could end up with a break. I think I heard he might have a tv show coming up- it could be a hit. He's a likeable guy. Look at Travolta's career -it was cold and dead and then bang! Pulp Fiction....

This item is from USA Today website under People:

New man?
Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is spending time with actor John Cusack, The New York Post reports. Her rep denies that the actress, whose split from husband John Stamos was announced this week, is dating. But she told Conan O'Brien that there was a "special someone" in her life.
