Harry Potter couldn't get to the $100 million mark in 4 days like many predicted. While it's certainly not a flop, I wonder if this means that its longevity will not be as good as originally hoped for.

I also wonder because maybe about 80% of Harry's audience has school on Mondays so it aint gonna make no "30 Million"...

Damnit! It's not even gonna break the 5-day record either held by Star Wards: Episode I which grossed $105 in 5 days. DAMN!

It's a shame about Mr. Potter, but what surprises me is how well Travolta's Domestic Disturbance is doing at the box office. I remember people saying his career was over, but this film is showing good legs and has not dropped off considerably like I thought it would. Maybe Swordfish wasn't a fluke after all. And there have been terrible reviews for DD too, so, I'm surprised.

No one said it was a flop, it just didn't exceed(or meet in some people's cases) expectations for it's first few days.

You're right. I was wrong. I meant for the first 4, not few.

Plus, this is November!!! Come on, Star Wars was in the summer, and many people here in Az were out of school on that first Monday--they're in school now. So what if it doesn't have a big gross yesterday. 6 mil. is still a lot of money to make on a school day in the middle of November.

Think about it Mike. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif This could be the most replied to "Daily Box Office Numbers" post you've made, because you've only posted Monday's numbers and it's already got 11 posts now and people are still talking about Harry Potter's business. I don't mind at all because I love Harry Potter but I guess it wasn't enough all the replies to the "Harry Potter Shatters Records" post. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Just thought I'd point that out http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

FlickJunkie I think this weeks Daily Box Office Numbers thread will be the most replied to one so far. Usually I only get one or two replies on a Monday but today I got 11. Who knows, this is a big week, maybe I'll get 100 replies by the end of this next weekend.

DAMN! Harry Potter almost took the 5ive-day record. Episode 1 holds it with a little over $105 million. I am surprised that Harry made more on Tuesday then it did on Monday, usually Monday's numbers are higher. SHIT!

Oh, I'm also surprised that 13 Ghosts moved up a spot to #9 beating The Wash (as did Life as a House to #8). I liked 13 Ghosts and hope it does better than House On Haunted Hill's $40 million gross. Which it looks like it might gross a little more than it.

Exactly. I said it first it that it certainly wasn't a flop but it couldn't reach $100 million in four days as expected and it couldn't even beat Star Wars Ep. 1's five-day record as expected. I really loved Harry Potter and I hope it does incredibly well, but I'm just stating the facts. Hopefully it'll blow 'em away over the American Thanksgiving!

Some box-office expert predicted that SPY GAME would gross 33 Million for the 5-day weekend, BLACK KNIGHT would gross 11 million for the five day, and OUT COLD would gross a terrible 3.3 million for the 5 day...He also predicted HARRY POTTER would make 89-95 Million for the entire weekend...

Well, I HIGHLY doubt OUT COLD will gross ONLY 3.3 million for the ENTIRE 5 days. It will probably gross AT LEAST 1 Million for Wednsday alone. I think it will gross 7 Million for the weekend.

They skipped straight to Thursday's numbers...

Since they only have Thursday's, you can take the total gross up until Thrusday and subtract the gross they made on Thursday and you got yourself some of Wednesday's numbers. Make sense? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Harry is holding really strong. I think it will drop only 25-30% on the weekend. It's going to go pass the 300 million mark.

Life As A House has been holding up pretty well.

It's first weekend in wide release it grossed 3.6 Million on 1,288 screens and was #8, it's second weekend of wide release it grossed 2.7 Million on 1,288 screens and was #9, and now in it's third weekend it grossed 2.1 Million on 1,119 screens and was #10. Now I know it isn't some big blockbuster but it hasn't been doing too bad. Who knows, it could stay at #10 next weekend and The One could drop out of the top ten, Life As A House does have really good word of mouth and The One doesn't. The only two new movie opening next weekend are Behind Enemy Lines and Texas Rangers and Texas Rangers will only be on 400 screens so I HIGHLY doubt it will make the top ten.

I saw Harry Potter on Saturday and helped it's $20 million gross. I loved it. I was surprised at how crowded the theater was when I saw the first showing at 11:00 a.m. that day. But, for the most part, the audience was good.
