Surely the best thing that could happen to this proposed sequel is that it gets canned entirely?

Harrison Ford is too old, George Lucas has lost the plot & Steven Spielberg doesn't need the hassle.

The ending of The Last Crusade was a perfect way to wrap up the trilogy.

Leave Indy alone riding off into the sunset as it was meant to be.

I know alot of shmoes really want a sequel, but I totally agree with you. Harrison Ford is ancient, and I think George Lucas has already proven his ability to fuck up a classic trilogy with new movies...

I agree about The Last Crusade... It ended it all perfectly but there is one main element to part IV that makes me want another; Spielberg. This man won't let Indy fans down.

Famous last words. After the shit Lucas has taken for Episode 1 & 2, I don't blame him for not wanting to subject himself to more of that crap. Besides, based on Ford's absolutely abysmal performances the last 8 years, I doubt he'd have the energy to give a decent performance.

As for Spielberg, this is the same man that made AI, a terrible film in my opinion. No film is a sure thing.

Lucas was right to can this film. Work on Episode III and close the book on Star Wars forever, which is what he plans to do. Then move onto smaller, more obscure films like THX-1138, which is what he plans to do.

In the event that a 4th Indy movie actually gets made, I'd be willing to give it a chance.
However, giving the project's seemingly unending stay in development hell, such a film is looking less & less likely by the minute.

I, for one, hope that there is an Indiana Jones IV. But should it never happen, atleast, as you all of you have said, they ended it in a great way in Last Crusade. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a fourth one, though.
