Warner Bros. Animation is producing a new Batman animated series, entitled The Batman, which will air on the top-rated Saturday morning Kids' WB starting next fall. The series will be rerun on the Cartoon Network approximately six months after its debut on the Kids' WB. The series will take place in the third year of Batman's run as a crime fighter in Gotham City and will involve the Caped Crusader first meetings with a number of his most famous adversaries including, the Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, Riddler, and Man-Bat. This version of Batman chronicles the life of the famous crimefighter as a young man in his mid-twenties living in a swinging bachelor pad. The Edge, guitarist for U2, will provide the theme song for the new series. Venerable Batman alumnus Adam West will voice the role of the mayor of Gotham, and the supremely sexy Gina Gershon should be "purrfect" as the voice of Catwoman.¨

The graphic for the new series released by Warner Bros. Animation certainly looks stylish. It should be interesting to compare The Batman to rich visual tradition of earlier Batman animated series, which featured the talents of among others, Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. Previous Batman animated series also spawned comic books, action figures, and statues -- a pattern that is likely to be repeated once again.

Looks creepy, I hope they get Mark Hamill to do the voice.

Yeah, even though I like the idea of a new show, I wish that they'd just make new episodes of the old show.

BTW, is that REALLY their new design for the Joker?! Fuck me, man!

I don't really like that look, too much.

What I like about this so far:
I like the way Batman looks in this one, in a preview I seen he looks closer to the comic version then The Animated Series did. Also Catwoman looks like she does in the present comics with the goggles and all. And even though I don’t care much for the look of the Joker I’m glad they kept a similar voice to Mark Hamill’s version. Mark Hamill does not voice the Joker but this new guy does a kick ass job and sounds nearly as good as Mark Hamill. Also the Animation is superb.

What I don’t like about this so far:
I really am disappointed that none of the cast from the original series is going to be in this one (no Kevin Conroy and no Mark Hamill). And none of the original crew is going to be involved either, instead the same guys that made Static Shock and Jackie Chan’s Adventures are making the new series.

I also hate the voice for Batman in this one. The same guy that did the voice for Peter Parker/Spiderman in Spiderman Unlimited voices Bruce Wayne/Batman, and his voice for Batman sounds exactly like it did for Spiderman. There is no darkness to his voice what so ever. After hearing Batman say “I am the Batman” and sounding like some kid in high school really makes me miss Kevin Conroy.

Ugh, I hope this doesn't turn in to "Geek Bruce Wayne is in love with hot cheerleader chick who dates the football team star who happens to be an asshole".

i'm really not looking forward to this, just because they're completly disregarding paul dini's batman. I'll just get the july box set of the animate series to give me my batman fix.

ciao
