A few Schmoes can probably relate to this. At least he's human.
Pitt: Quitting Smoking Made Me Want To Kill
Movie superstar Brad Pitt experienced such severe cravings when he quit smoking recently he was "ready to kill". The Fight Club actor, 40, was forced to ditch the unhealthy habit during training for upcoming Greek epic Troy, and says he struggled to cope without nicotine. But Pitt - who is married to Friends beauty Jennifer Aniston - says the fitness regime he was forced to keep up during the grueling shoot was a deeply miserable experience. He explains, "I had to quit smoking. I'm now happy about it because these things were killing me. But at first I was really missing my cigarettes. The withdrawal was so hard that I was ready to kill - which was actually helpful for the role I was playing. Against my nature, I had to invest a lot of time and sweat on the physical aspect of my work. I didn't like that at all. The trainer warned me that every day would be unpleasant. He was right."

A senior at my highschool had that as his yearbook quote. It's pretty neat to browse through the yearbook and see the words "Fight Club".
On a completely related topic, couldn't his anger fueled by having no nicotine be used as method acting for his wartime rage? I think I'm reading too deep.

I don't think you're reading too deep...the article quotes him as saying: "...I was ready to kill - which was actually helpful for the role I was playing. .."
So there ya go, spot on ;)

I feel his pain- i quit smoking (a long time ago) and it was the hardest thing I ever did. I wished that I had never taken it up in the first place- it would've saved a lot of painful quitting. Hope he sticks with it.

Ahaha, nice :D
But he never was fuckable and, in my opinion, still isn't.

Hehe, nope, I'm not joking :) I generally don't find your regular Hollywood buff guys sexy. I lean more towards your Adrien Brody, Coling Firth, Jude Law, Alan Rickman, John Cusack, Ralph Fiennes kinda guy ;)
hehe, but whatever floars yer boat

I'm on my 5th day of quiting right now and some times I honestly feel like punching every single person I come across in the face, even grandmothers.
Hopefully the cravings will lift. Kudos Pitt for making it :)

Definitely agree about Firth, Rickman and Cusak. I'm not crazy about the pretty boys either but there are a few exceptions to that.
Hey bowieee-hang in there- the worst is over now. It gets better after 2-3 weeks and then after about 2-3 years you stop having the dreams that you accidently picked up a cigarette, LOL! I made a commitment when I quit that I would never ever pick up another one for any reason- each time you go back you end up smoking more and it gets harder to quit so just keep with it now.

Ive been smoke free (well cigarettes anyways...) for over 5 years now, after being a 2 pack a day smoker.
Doesnt even faze me anymore.
Now if I had to give up drinking.....that could cause some problems!

Thanks :) I've tried to quit god knows how many times but I have a feeling this time I'm going to pull through. I know exactly what you mean about those dreams. Ugh
To keep this movie related, nothing sucks worse than quiting and then watching a movie character enjoy his cig on screen. It's utter torment.

Most people quit more than once before its successful- just keep thinking would I want to go through this torment again? No- so don't pick it up again! As Mark it Zero says, eventually you won't miss it at all.

Quitting anything is a bitch, but cigarettes is undoubtedly the worst. I feel like crying everytime I see James Gandolfini light up a cigar on the Sopranos, and they're nowhere near as addictive as cigs. Stay strong. Eat chocolate. Be Brad Pitt. ;)

I've read that the average times to try hard and successfully quit is 7 times
