Evil Dead 2 Question

Okay, the noly thing i dont get about the movie is, Ash drives back to the house, without remembering the events before. And then it goes into the end of the first movie?! WTF!! Is this just a kind of 're-cap' of the first film (even though it really isnt) just to explain to audiences in part 2 because the first might not have had a big release or something?


Please give me the explanation!

Yup. Raimi didn't have the rights to use the footage from his own movie, so they basically just reshot the first film's scenes leading up to the end, minus the other three characters.

Yep, its a recap. It's even mentioned in the Evil Dead 2 commentary by Sami Raimi, Bruce Campbell and co. Most people are confused at the beginning saying its a "remake" and "sequel" rolled into one movie, but after listening to the ED2 commentary I can rest easy knowing its, in fact, a sequel and the filmmakers couldn't get the rights to use footage from their own movie.

Yea when the sun comes up all the evil stuff goes away. Like when you see the smoke go backwards through the woods and out of ash's eyes.
