what do you think of jean claude van damme

i saw some great action movie of van damme like in hell and the quest but most of my friends say that he sucks as an actor but i think hes great.So what do you guys think of him

He's alright. Timecop, Maximum Risk, Replicant and In Hell are all good JCVD movies but he's not a patch on Arnold, Sly or Charles.

Not great by any means, but at least Van Damme is more consistently decent than Steven Seagal. I enjoyed fun cheese like TIMECOP, REPLICANT, and DOUBLE TEAM, but every once in a while, a piece of shite like IN HELL or DERAILED slips through. Still, that's a better track record than Seagal, who, for me so far, has just gone through one crapfest after another.

I saw Jean Claude for the FIRST time as the baddie in No Retreat No Surrender then he went onto Kickbocker & Bloodsport then did a string of lookalike movies. Jean Claude is in DIRE need of a shift change in his movie roles, really. But the ONLY movie that does stand out IMO is Time Cop. I get the chills during the split scence. :D

Honestly, I think his acting is underrated. It's not great, but its fine. I don't think that people really understand the kind of acting/character he's trying to convey. But, to each its own.

I'm not a fan of him or his movies, but I at least give him credit for being consistent. He makes bad movies, but at least he's consistent about it. He doesn't all of the sudden make a movie I see that I like, and be trapped in the sad assumption that maybe his next movie will be even cooler. No, he's above that. He makes bad action movies and he doesn't disappoint with that

I like Seagal. I like Van Damme. They are not great actors but their movies are almost always entertaining. Though I think Van Damme is actually not only not a bad actor, I think he's actually been pretty good in some of his movies. I thought he gave an actual good performance in the underrated Lionheart. Lionheart is probably my fav of his. He's also pretty good in Replicant where he plays a killer and a clone of himself.

He was good in Timecop. What ever happened to Van Damme anyways? What has he done these past few years? Maybe one or two movies but I've heard relatively little from the guy. Same with Seagal. But that's not really a bad thing.
