It's unfortunate that one of the best horror films of all time is public domain. There are WAY too many feckless, counterproductive versions of this flick out there, most of which bear a messy transfer. The DVD will come equipped with a Mike Nelson commentary track. That should be interesting, although I don't know if I want to see this or not. The baleful B&W cinematography inspissates the film's atmosphere.

Well, it also includes a B&W transfer, and Mike Nelson. Maybe a rental.

NOTLD colorized?

Blasphemy I say! Why would Mr. Nelson even be apart of this atrocisty?

Oh well, at least I have the superior Millenium Edition. :)

For as long as I can remember there is a colorized version of NOTLD at my local videostore. Pathetic part is, THEY DON'T HAVE THE B&W VERSION!!!!

why don't they just give good treatment to the REAL official colorized version, which is the 1990 remake?

My only copy of the movie is the colorized version. It's dead awful. I have to put the colour down on the television whenever I watch it. I mean, the zombies are bright green, Barbara's hair is bright piss yellow and everything else is a dull shade of orange.

I heard the zombies appear green in this version. Night of the living dead works great in black and white and shouldn't be tampered with.

I had the misfortune to view the colourized version on video years ago and it was fucking terrible!

This whole colorization nightmare was started by "Hal Roach Studios" I remember when this thing hit years ago!!! By the way JivaFox and Saruman you have my sympathy. Dude, you're correct! The zombies do appear Green, which was stupid to begin with. All this does is screw up continuity...when we see the man walking through the cemetary(Hinzman) in the first minutes of the film. His face is green!! WTF? What these Geniuses didnt take into consideration is this, it ruins the ambiguity of the scene. We arent supposed to know that this is a walking dead guy!! The way this plays out, Johnny should be saying hey Barb...Look at that guy with the GREEN FACE!! Lets get the HELL out of here!!

colourization was the worst thing that ever happened to NOTLD - if you haven't seen a colourized version - don't! :)

I saw the colorised 33th aniversary version, wich also had some horrible extra scenes. The zombies were GREEN.

NOTLD SPOILERS!!!!

The fact that it's colourised wastes the ending. When Ben looks through the window and the hunters shoot him because they think he's a zombie, this wouldn't have happened if he was black and the zombies were green.

"Look, there's another one!"
"No, his face is black, not green."
"Oh. Let's go home and eat cookies."

Maybe black people just don't turn green when they're zombies. I mean, you don't see black vampires getting all white.

No, the fact that all the other zombies are green disturbs me more. I mean, come on, GREEN. What is this, Mickey Mouse and his Zombie Friends? GREEN!!
