Most versions are going to be 'unrated'.
And if it`s rated R, you probably don`t want it.

It's unrated. An R rated version doesn't exist.
At least not in the States.

I checked the MPAA website. It lists a 1994 video release of The Evil Dead as being rated NC-17 for "substantial graphic horror violence and gore." Fair enough, but to my knowledge, every other release was presented as "unrated." I can only assume the rating was withdrawn at some point, though it doesn't have the "rating surrendered" (s) symbol attatched. This was clearly done so that it would be made available in more stores, and not being a major company, the current distributor (Anchor Bay) has no problem releasing it unrated.
Incidentally, Evil Dead II was originally rated X, but trimmed to get an R. I'm not sure if the uncut version was ever released domestically.

While list listed I'm sure the tree rape scene has some bearing as well.....

Evil Dead is unrated. Only in an unrated horror movie can you get insane gore and a tree rape.

the tree rape scene wasnt barly graphic enough to get mentioned in the rating, it lasts for all about 10-15 seconds in EDII

Huh??
The 'tree rape' scene is in the first movie, not Part 2.
And anyways, it`s not really a matter of how graphic the scene is (because you`re right, it`s not very graphic), it`s more just the very idea, which many found tasteless.

sry, i've seen a little bit of both. anyway, in my humble opinion, the very idea is disgusting

In Australia its R, but for Usa id presume its the same version even if unrated, becase you can get away with alot more in AUstralia because of our rating system.

actually, while the tree rape scene is in part 1, it also implies in part 2 that Bobbie Jo is raped by the trees when she runs outside...
i thought the first one was much more graphic...the root between the legs! ow! fuck! splinters, motherfuckers, SPLINTERS!!! :D

Ehhhhh, I`m not so sure about that.
Bobbie Jo is dragged through the woods by the trees, but I don`t think it`s implied that she was raped.....by the trees.
