Off the ntop of your head, what are the longest movies you've ever seen. They can't be TV miniseries like Roots, but movies that were actually released in theaters.

I know a couple like
Gettysburg, and 1900

I don't know about "longest" but ROtK was pretty long

Apocalypse Now Redux was quite long, 202 minutes I believe.

A lot of the new footage was unnecessary, like the French plantation or the extended bunny scenes, but the majority took nothing away from the film.

Giant - the Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean movie was looooooooooong!

Gangs of New York
Long flick yes but the excellent story and pacing made up for it...

lol... I think that one could go under the thread "Really long movies that seemed longer than they actually were."

I only made it through an hour and a half of that one and I felt like I had lost 4 hours of my life.

"Titanic" is 3 hours 16 minutes long. That's 196 total minutes! I didn't mind that though. I enjoyed it. I think its an example of one of those films that you enjoy and want to see more of. It's worth the nearly 200 minute running time.

ROTK. Just to think that Peter Jackson cut an Hour & a half from the movie. & LOTR has made the guiness(sp) book for the longest credits. 9 Minutes of credit at the end of ROTK. & most fans probably never seen the Making of Pictures at the end of the credits. The last time I saw ROTK I promised myself that I would wait to checkout the pictures. I was on my way home when I realized & forgot to wait after the credits. Oh Well, I will just have to wait for the DVD next month.

It's mostly about poems, monologues and porn.

Schindler's List went for about 3 1/2 hours. It's pretty long but worth it all the same.

That can't be. Pirates of the Caribbean has exactly 10 minutes of credits.

Joseph L. Mankiewicz's Cleopatra and David Lean's Doctor Zhivago

Not THE longest movies (though over 3 hrs, they are VERY VERY long), but they just felt like the longest ones to me. Two movies I've never been able to sit through from beginning to end without falling asleep.

Not really. I remember seeing it mentioned on a "weird movies" thread once and remembered it since. I'd dearly love to go to college or university that's playing (if ever they play it for experimental purposes). I don't know if I'd be up to the challege (I personally think so) but it would be nice to try it.

I remember seeing this russian war film translated "Blood of Heroes". Really violent and really sad. it was five and a half hours long. It chronicles three soldiers during world war 2. Very reminiscent of Peckinpah and John Woo.

Well Kenneth Branaugh's Hamlet is over four hours long. But I have only seen a few scenes from it. So movies that I've seen I'd say the longest movies I've ever seen are:

Malcolm X
Schindler's List
The Godfather Part II
JFK
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

That is all I can think of.
