For me it has to be Paulette Goddard in Modern Times, with Claire Bloom in Limelight just behind.

Gotta go with Paulette Goddard on this one. She brought great presence to the screen, and her and Chaplin in Modern Times is one of the best couples of all-time.

I really enjoyed Claire Bloom, as well.

I absolutely adored Virginia Cherrill in City Lights, who completely took my heart away and by the end of the film, I had tears streaming down my face. Her and Chaplin is such a wonderfully endearing couple. :)

Cherrill

Even though she and Chaplin reportedly had a very strained relationship and she only made the one film with him. So great though...

Virginia Cherrill.

It was probably her face alone that made me weep by the end of City Lights. That moment of recognition, such a perfect way to cap off a great film.
