Michael Keaton was the most unobvious choice and I think was a stroke of genius in casting. He was humorous and serious and gave the character a less comic-bookish tone.

My vote goes to Mike Keaton, he was both humorous, and serious. He made a good Batman. Val Kilmar was okay, nowhere as good as Keaton but not bad, and I didn't really like Cloony as Batman.

Keaton all the way. At first he seemed a bit too understated for a dashing figure like Bruce Wayne, but in execution it just seemed to come together. Kilmer was decent, and Clooney was just plain emberassing.

Clooney and Kilmer were alright, by my vote definately goes to Keaton. Noone will ever be able to measure up to him. If Warner Bros. were smart they'd do whatever is necessary to get him back for the next Batman movie!

Keaton Always, Michael Keaton will forever be Batman in my mind. He was the first and the best that fit into the black rubber suit. Too bad he doesn't want to do it anymore, oh well, at least I have the first and second Batman to watch over and over.

Clooney didn't fit the role for me, Kilmer worked as Bruce but not Batman in my mind, and Keaton, well Keaton was very good in both of the first two (though I'm in a minority of people, Batman fans who don't like the first Batman movie...Returns is the best) he was about to work as both personas and did it pretty well. But I gotta say...

To make a good Batman movie you need two things:

Michael Keaton and Tim Burton

Batman and Batman Returns were excellent movies. They had that dark element that kinda makes Batman who he is. They still had a good slice of humor to make you laugh. The other Batman movies... not so good. Joel Schumacher is a great film maker in my opinion, but his style is not suited for a Batman flick.

Keaton, while cool in costume, is absolutely not Bruce Wayne. He has neither the look nor the style to be the rich playboy.
